Anakin Skywalker started as a realist when he was slave on Tatoonine
but developed into a romantic when he followed his dreams and
passions. But then he let them consume him and thought they would
lead and guide him but that is why he turned into Darth Vader.
Luke on the other hand was a realist because he never thought he would
good about anything. Then he becomes a romantic later on when he blows
up the Death Star and trains with Yoda for being a jedi. He leaves
Dagobah because he is again being a romantic and wants to save his
friends instead of listening to Yoda's advice. But when Darth Vader
tells Luke who his father really is, Luke starts to become a realist.
He realizes that this passion of being a jedi is a big responsibility
and it does not help him when he becomes really vulnerable at the end
of the Empire Strikes Back.
But now in Return of the Jedi, he is between a realist and a romantic.
Because he is ready to accept that Darth Vader is his father but at
the same time he believes that there is good in him. And therefore is
able to control his dreams but also strives to follow them in reality.
Basically he knows his limits and then is how he succeeds.
