You know, I think you're right. Suddenly, threats of weak fan-generated
Sonic material no longer strikes fear into our hearts. This might have some
to do with the fact that current official Sonic material isn't doing much
more for us right now. Going by the attacks on Nate Morgan, Sonic
Underground and StC's rendition of Chaos, a newcomer might question the
"F" in AFSH. Even Gonterman just isn't as funny any more, now that he has
lost some of his mystique. Watch:

You got a point... but as you said, with most of the current material, there
isn't much "official" stuff to be a fan OF at the time.
I personally think that Endgame was the herald of the downfall of American
Sonic fandom, myself. Not that it wasn't a pretty powerful event once they
finally got around Sega's Puritan-esque stranglehold and re-did issue 50 to
give it the proper ending, but still that pretty much showed us that sweeping
changes were coming, and we probably weren't gonna like some (or in the
majority opinion, almost all) of them.
And I doubt that the re-run mania STC was locked in for a long while did much
to really bolster Europe's fanbase either... and the lack of a good new Sonic
game from the Genesis/Megadrive's effective death (1996, IMSC) to Sonic
Adventure (1999) probably caused a worldwide slump in the fandom as well.
Man... given all those shortfalls, you certainly can't say that Sonic fans
aren't dedicated, huh?

There's may or may not be anything wrong with it. I was referring to the
complaints made against it in the "Nooooooo!!! What have they done to
Chaos!?!" thread.
Also, you can't expect a comic to be able to replicate 3D, translucent,
flowing polygons, so no matter what they did it's not going to live up to
SA's rendition.

A plea to all Sonic fans in Europe, email/send Sega letters to stop Fleetway
going through and making STC all reprint! Even if you don't like STC if it
goes reprint it would affect (what little there is of) the rest of Sonic
fandom over here.

The only thing I want for STC fans is the respect we deserve. I imagine
several will be mocking us soon, for having just a reprint Sonic comic. But
we've had better than that. We've had the best Sonic comic in the world -
and that's what counts, even if we've lost it. Because good things are rare
to come by nowadays...

I'm not going to bother. Because to me, it's just not worth it.
And yes, I am a true STC fan. It has meant a lot to me over these past seven
years. But it's got to end at some point, and this is the point. Besides,
the reprints can still breed a new generation of Sonic fans. What we were
getting back then was (generally) better than what we've got now (although
there have been recent exceptions..)

To be honest, I've had a think about it, and... I guess it's the mark of
a good comic to Know When To Stop. The Pokémon Manga did this perfectly
- even though it was based on such a HUGE fad as Pokémon, Toshihiro Ono
knew exactly when enough was enough.
STC is ending at about the right time, and on exactly the right note.
I'll still fight for it by signing petitions etc, but if it does go
down, I think it did it the right way.
