Of course I'm not posting binaries here..

I found this one while wading through a large zip file of SeraMyu screen
snaps, it's from an special. Credit goes to Haruka? I think..

I've seen some bad romanizations...

Sailor Marcury
The Three Rights... but this one takes the cake...

Watch out, it's Sailor Satan! (Maybe the dub was right about her being
the evil "scout".. ; )

Fine Arts 1010, 3 years ago. We cover Dutch ostentatious still life,
and Vanitas symbols. Incuded were a few modern representations of this
art style. One was a self-portrait by the famous photographer Robert
Maplethorp that looked very familliar. I think the book said that he
had full blown AIDS at the time. The picture was all black, all that
was shown were his head and and the artist holding a cane with a skull.
It was supposed to be a Vanitas symbol showing his looming death.
Naoko-sensei copied this picture in one of her artbook pictures, I think
it's the first one, though I'm not sure. (I'd love to see what the texe
underneath says.) Endymion is holding the cane this time, and he's next
to Selenity. It looses some of it's "umph" but it's effective just the
same. I don't know if Naoko-sensei was knowingly including this or if
it was just something that she thought looked "cool." But it does
nicely foreshadow his death(s) in the first series.

I edited the pics, and included the two originals..

The final screen shot is from another of the Seramyu specials that I was
sorting through.. I absolutly LOVE it...Pluto and Endymion in a very
romantic. I would **love** to see this video and know what song that
they're singing.. Credit for this goes to Haruka again..

If Xoom isn't letting direct links to these pictures you can see them by
going to this directory. Just ignore the Cats pictures from
Fukuoka.. http://members.nbci.com/nehuraito/pictures/

Ummmm, the romanization *is* rather correct. It just looks funny. Why? There
really isn't an "er" sound as in Sailormercury so they use the closest thing.
And L and R are interchangable in Japanese whith R being more used but if you
say L instead, you'll be understood. And the a's in Japan are more like
"ahh"'s. And again, no "er" like in SailorsatURn. K? It just looks funny!

Nope. It would be SATAAN or SATA~N or with a - over the A The A is long.

サターン

In Japanese Satan is done SATAN. With a short A.

According to translations from artbook I, the title of the picture is
"Memento Mori"/Think of Death.

It wouldn't surprise me if Takeuchi was influenced by that Maplethorp
picture; she's had other fine art "models" for her other paintings (like a
certain Super Sailormoon picture in artbook III based on William Blake's
"Lucifer, Bearer of the Light").
