Subject: Slandering Takeuchi Naoko and her fans
Recently on an anime-related messageboard, there is a poster who dislike
Sailormoon and accuses TAKEUCHI Naoko as a "pedophile," because she draw
young female characters "having breasts." This poster also accuses fans
of Sailormoon as being "pedophiles" because they loved Ms. Takeuchi's
"erotic" work. Me and other posters were very offended by what this
poster (a female) had said and we tried to refute these slanderous
claims to prove she is wrong. We realized quickly through her replies
how little does she know about Sailormoon and Ms. Takeuchi. If Ms.
Takeuchi is reading what that poster had said about her, that poster
would be sued for libel.

I had seen people on the Internet say the most libel things, but against
Ms. Takeuchi and us fans disturbs me. Ms. Takeuchi is a great manga
artist, but she is not a pedophile. Just because we like to read the
Sailormoon manga does not make us pedophiles. I hope that poster has the
brains to understand that.

Try not to let it get you upset. That's the only reason people like
that post those kinds of things anyways....

It's not like somebody will buy a couple hundred episodes just because the show
has cute girls in it anyways. Maybe you bought the first few, and one of the reasons
was because the girls are drawn nicely, but you wouldn't keep buying them just
for that reason.... besides, the show is so good that it's impossible not to
find new reasons every show to like it, ne?

Naoko Takeuchi does enjoy drawing erotic (nude and half-clothed)
pictures of the senshi, especially Usagi.  Anyone who tries to deny
this should look at several pictures from the Infinity Artbook (for
instance).

the first few episodes wern't nicely drawn.  It was about the Black Moon

Ali / Ann series the girls were drawn really weirdly and looked very
unattractive.  One thing was they were too wide.

The drawings from the Inifinty Artbook where Usagi is nude does not
mean that it's a picture of her at 14, nude.

And even if it was, that does not mean she's a pedophile for drawing it or
for her fans who like it.

"Nicely drawn" meant the character designs of the girls in the show.
Short skirts, and other "pretty" characteristics....

And when I said buying your first few episodes, it didn't necessarily mean
the first season, especially as how it's been a lot harder to find the first
two seasons fansubbed than the later ones anwyays....

Just to add my 2 cents... According to various countries laws,
anime/manga/comics/cartoons are considered artwork and it's legal to

The person who was making the accusations was probably not aware of
the laws, and was probably also misinformed about BSSM.

Had the english dub versions content never been tampered with, then
the anime would have been more educational since it promotes learning
about other countries cultures. (Ugh, I flinch everytime I hear

I'm sure the person who made the accusations (like many who just to

IMO, anyone who thinks looking at a drawings are the same as looking

There is no reason to assume that Usagi is over 18 (or even 16) in
that picture. Given that 18 is the American age of consent, not the
Japanese one, I doubt that Takuechi deliberately aged characters for
her more erotic art.

Sounds like a simple troll to me. Rule #1: Don't feed the trolls. If your
message board doesn't have a "killfile" system, ask whoever's in charge to

Bad URL.  That should be "smpic2.gif", rather.

and this should be "takeuchi.jpg".

Nonetheless, a lot of people stereotype SM fans and the creator of SM as
pedophiles.  I'd say more than a few of us like the grown up women (or men,
as the case may be).

Don't let it ruin your enjoyment of the series.

I really don't think Takeuchi had any age for Usagi in mind when she
drew that picture. The way I see it, Usagi represents agelessness.

Those are not what she usually draws, but they're still cute.

Innocuous and elegant.

Broken.

Broken, but I know which one you're talking about.

That one is cute. If anyone is offended by that image, he or she should
never bother to visit a beach in the summer.

I only wish that Takeuchi drew Hotaru, not Ami, in a string bikini.

It's cute and playful. Perverted? Hardly.

I'm sure that Takeuchi enjoys drawing that stuff. Personally, I don't
see anything wrong with these sorts of images. There is no malice and
there's no pornographic intent.
