I'm 50% Irish Prodestant, 50% British Protestant.
Dating back to the 18th century, immigrants to the new world.
At least on my father's side. They were the English.
The Protestant Irish? Came over here when Queen Victoria was ruling
the "realm". It's Victoria Day in Canada this weekend.
She was an evil old girl, the Irish were starved to death under her.
The Catholics came from Ireland, and so did my Irish Protestant
ancestors.
My Great, Great, Great Grandfather used to come to Toronto (it took a
day), and when he arrived, he got drunk at a place that still exists.
The Miller. Then marched with his Orangemen Irish Brothers into the
city, and picked fights with "the Micks".
The Marching Days.
Not something that I, as a proud son of an Irishman, am proud of.
But he must have had a hoot! After all, living as a farmer was
boring as Heck!
