:Yes, the Republicans are losing miserably. They now fall back on their

I beg to differ. He did run for the nomination after all. They
let Jerry Brown speak because he was the "last survivor" in the
primaries. Of course it was a lot easier to get Pat to talk since he
would now throw his support to Bush; as opposed to Jerry holding out
until the very end to throw his support to Clinton.
>BTW, did you notice how over and over again, Bush and Ray-gun were

>(which of course was all done on borrowed money). Giving Ray-gun
>and Bush credit for the fall of Communism is like giving them credit

Like taking credit for Halley's Comet returning??? I'm sorry.
You can't say communism ebbs and flows like the tide. You wouldn't
believe anyone in 1980 if they told you that the Berlin Wall was going to fall
in 1990. How hopeful were you that the Berlin Wall was going to fall
after Reagan said, "Mr. Gorbechev, tear down this wall!" that it was
going to happen in less than 10 years? How surprised were you when the
Berlin Wall actually fell?
Communism falling was NOT strictly fate. Communism's demise has
been influenced by what Reagan and Bush did since 1980. Whether or not you
believe in SDI/Star Wars, military technology in the US is among the
best if not THE best in the world, and SDI helped spur on research in
stealth technology, anti-ballistic missile systems, and so on.
The falling of Communism is not a "freak" of nature. Duke did
not defeat UNLV in 1991 because there was a full moon out. You ought to
give credit where it is due: Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, Mikhail
Gorbechev, George Bush, and Boris Yeltsin ... the key diplomats who
helped dismantle the Communist machine in Europe and turn back the
threat of nuclear war between the superpowers. A system of government
doesn't just fall on its own; the Jewish people had to march around the
walls of Jericho before the walls came down!

I say:
One-fifth of the earth's estimated 5 bil live in a communist country (PR
of China). I don't think the remaining 1/20th live in Cuba, nor was it
what you intended. But I wonder what you'd like for us to do to China to
coerce them into changing themselves from a Communist to a free-market
economy/government. Should we have invaded China after Tiannemann
Square? What if any sanctions we have encouraged China to send more
missiles to Iraq? How long until we capitulate that closing a 1 billion
person market to American business is going to hurt our economy? Just
wondering.
