McCain morphs into Rove
The straight talk is long gone from Joh McCain's Straight Talk
Express.
It appears that the Republican nominee's campaign is fully in the
hands of all those Karl Rove disciples he brought on board in recent
months.
Instead of a serious campaign about issues, American voters are
getting a steady stream of distortions and attacks from the McCain
side.
The last couple of days, we've been subjected to the patently absurd
charge that Barack Obama's passing reference to putting lipstick on a
pig was a nasty attack on v.p. nominee Sarah Palin.
It is truly amazing and appalling that McCain's spokesmen can summon
up such a gush of fake outrage, even in the face of clear evidence
they don't mean a word they are saying.
And now they've come up with a scurrilous attack ad that attributes to
Obama all the goofy and false information about Palin that has been
making its way through the darker regions of the Internet.
Newsweek's Andrew Romano calls them on this "fact-free fact check" in
his latest column.

It's definitely worth a read, especially for fair-minded Republicans
who should expect better from their candidate.
