Barack Obama Hit for Vote on Sex-Assault Bill
Posted July 28, 2004

Illinois state Sen. Barack Obama's vote AGAINST tougher sentences for
sexual predators surfaced Tuesday prior to his keynote address to the
Democratic National Convention in Boston.

In 1999 Obama cast the lone vote against a proposed Illinois law to
deny early release on the grounds of "good behavior" for felons
incarcerated for criminal sexual offenses, said a group identifying
itself as the "Obama Truth Squad."

Known in Illinois as Senate Bill 485, it provided that a person in a
county jail, "May not receive a good behavior allowance if he or she
is convicted of criminal sexual assault in which the victim was under
18 years of age at the time of the offense" or was "a family member"
or if "he or she is convicted of criminal sexual abuse or aggravated
criminal sexual abuse."

Obama voted against the measure, which became law on July 15, 1999,
the group said, in a news release timed to coincide with Obama's
speech to Boston delegates of the Democratic convention.

Obama is the Democrat's candidate for the U.S. Senate in Illinois and
considered a heavy favorite to win, in part because the Republicans
have yet to field a candidate.

Even those this article was posted last week, I was surprised that no
one posted it back then. The Dems were tickled pink they finally had a
Black candidate for office.

Dems have more than tokens, they have real Black
representation. You stinking racist pig repugs don't even
have tokens.

So, go *uck yourself.
