California In Play? (Prop 8's ugly head)

Out here in California democrats control everything. the leftbots of this
state march in lockstep, re-electing their masters every time, sending 55
electoral votes to the dems as a given.

But now there is Prop 8 - the anti gay marriage initiative (power to the
people baby - second time around)

I have to keep wondering...... will the anti gay marriage initiative draw
enough conservatives back to the voting booth to over ride the liberal
agenda and ultimately the liberal dominance in this election cycle?

Obama 56%
McCain 40 %

It is so one sided here that the Obama campaign is doing phone
banking to states like Nevada that are actually in play.

Interesting question. Also, on my block, there are two Obama signs that
both have "Yes on 8" signs. That is consistent with Obama's position. He
probably flip flopped when working the SF crowd, but he is still on record
in TV debates defining marriage as between a man and a woman.

The "No" crowd will probably win this time around, as they have considerable
help with the state government. For example, the proposition doesn't appear
on the ballot per the petition wording "Defines marriage as between a man
and a woman". But instead, as mandated by Jerry Brown, it appears as
"Eliminates the right of same sex couples to marry". The casual voter
might think that the proposition eliminates civil unions as well.

people and/or asking the wrong questions?

The Prop 8 people are having a good time using Gavin Newsome (renegade mayor
of San Francisco who jumpstarted gay marriage even before the state supreme
court overturned the previous vote of the people) as their poster boy.
Newsome didnt help things when he presided over the marriage of two gay
women, one of whom was a schoolteacher whose 2nd grade class was "invited"
to the wedding.

naw George, I still have to wonder if there is an unmeasured undercurrent
here

not that I'd bet the house on it, although the way real estate prices have
been declining, that's no longer much of a bet.

I think 8 will pass but Obama will easily carry the state. The McCain
supporters are hoping that a large number of people who normally do not
vote will cast ballots and back McCain.

Saw some polls where Obama Hussein Barack is ahead.
Below the tally it had
"60% dem 42% Rep of those polled, rest undecided.

With Dems beating up on "Joe the Plumber" we may see say backlash against
the happy black elitist guy try to collect and divide up our money.

Although too many folks looking for those free health care plans, homes,
jobs without working packages may be hard to turn.

Oh yea one more carrot tax refunds for those who not only don't pay taxes;
