"A" and Telegraph Ave."

Hi Eric,
I read 'A' years ago and enjoyed it, after you sent- what to make of a
"Finnigans Wake" by Michael Chabon I came across the new novel he has
written "Telegraph Ave." I am mid-way through and I think anyone who
likes Pynchon and Joyce might get a kick out of this. It's set in
Oakland Ca, has some characters that are from that chapter of the
Black Panthers and features a main character Archie Stallings who
plays the Hammond B3 organ with Leslie speaker system, gigs around
Berkley in a kind of George Clinton/Sun Ra tribute band and his
favorite book is Ulysses which he calls Useless.Lots of musical
references and general strangeness abound.
Inherent Vice was great , I thought the ending seemed appropo to a
sequel. The idea of making a film from it seems very intriueging,
although I haven't heard in recent news about the Paul Thomas
Anderson project.

Glad you enjoyed Inherent Vice. I find myself very behind in reading it: getting over a bad cold, finals week, etc.
I haven't read Telegraph Ave.
I read "A" 19 today. I plan to read the next three sections over the next three days celebrating the end of the world. (I expect the world will say "along the" Friday and then "riverrun" on Saturday.
Steve, I just realized we started Finning 23 years ago. Take it easy.

I decided to just reread A-12 and A-13 after the New Year 0 on the Mayan Calender.

Speaking of Finnagins Wake I thought that Zukofsky's comment that the first word of the Bible (berashith in Hebrew) literally means "From the Head" which reminds me of "riverun" and the head of the giant at Howth.I hope good health returns to you and have a Merry Christmas and all your wishes come true in the New Year.

Happy 2013! I finished rereading "A" 1 - 23. The week of Zukofksy's birthday (1/23) I plan to listen to "A" 24 three times - we'll see if I actually do it. I finished reading Ahearn's book "A" - An Introduction, which I enjoyed. For the next two weeks I plan to focus on my MLA class and get caught up on Inherent Vice.
