Hello to all :+)

I cast myself before the fount of all-knowledge that is a.f.p please help
me.

I am going to Zambia for 3 months on the 21st of December to be with my
family (Dad is working there). Has anyone on the NG been there and are you
able to recommend any activities? I'll be based in and around Kitwe (nearly
on the northern border, in the middle), with the possibility of travel to
South Africa and Zimbabwe. I'm a bit leery of going to either of the
Congo's, but anywhere else should be ok.

Walking/horse riding/camping safaris, etc, etc. Any suggestions???
Does anyone know of any good African websites (specifically southern Africa
and Zambia)? I've seen a few, but there must be more.

Thanks for any help.
Cheers,

Heidi Aussie

excellent...it's a wonderful country...though it has had some hard
times since I was there back in 1984 or so

I was in Ndola which isn't all that far from Kitwe...in the Bemba
area of the country...lovely people, very friendly...though watching
policemen armed with machine guns walking hand in hand was a little
strange

I didn't get down to Victoria Falls, but it's apparently
wonderful...but just lolling around the copper belt was fun enough
for me

definitely take a train journey...that was pretty much the high
point...buses are much more uncomfortable...trains in Zambia stop
when they are flagged down...they have do it yourself
kitchens...quite wonderful

I'll try to remember to ask around...I have a friend runs safari
holidays in Zimbabwe...he'll have some god ideas if I have time to
ask

Photocopy all travel documentation, passposts, visas and stuff. Leave
it with someone who has a fax machine so that you can have copies sent
if you happen to get washed away by a rampant waterfall.

or something

I'm flying into Ndola, Kitwe apparently doesn't have a big enough strip and
they apparently still have the machine guns.
