Right, so I was reading through the "2 years on a blog" thread,
and I saw a comment by Elliott I wanted to reply to. So I hit
"Reply to Group", wrote my reply, and then "Send". OE said it
couldn't post because line 4 was too long - a reasonably common
occurrence here.

Now, I normally get round this problem by signing on to Google
Groups, copying the message ID of the message I replied to that's
quoted in my post, pasting it into search, and replying there.
However, this time, Google couldn't find the message. In fact, it
couldn't find anything Elliott had posted in the last 24 hours. At
least, not by searching by author. A subject search found the
thread, and I trawled through that until I got to where I wanted
to be, and replied there.

So, is it just Google playing silly buggers, or is something
sinister going on, and what can be done about either?
