The first was a book by an artist who specialised in
anthropomorphic animals. Not cartoony ones, but realistic ones
like Alan Aldridge (it wasn't him). I vaguely recall various
filmic parodies, including a cat version of "M", in which the
chalk mark on the murderer's coat is echoed in three mouse
tails sticking out of his pocket.
The second was a book of pictures of notable fantasy
characters, including Mort and Nevyn, from Katherine Kerr's
Devery novels. It was interesting, because none of the
characters (that I'd heard of) looked the way I thought of
them, but all of them matched their descriptions in the books.
Any info on either book appreciated!

"You stand as this world's champion?"
"I've no idea who I am, but you've just summed me up."
Does the name _Samurai Cat_ ring a bell? He appeared in
a lot of filmic parody paintings by Mark Rogers. Eventually
Rogers wrote some of the stories to go with the paintings.

Is that like 'Samurai Pizza cats?'

A quick Google suggests that this *isn't* what I'm thinking
of, but it looks interesting, so thanks!
