DreamHaven is almost completely out of FF... they've only got #1, #4,
and the first weekender. However, as you say, I did get my name on a
database for when they get more in.

I don't suppose any New Zealanders would care to arrange a care
package for adequate compensation? Or knows of a bookstore that would
do so? Although book rate might be murder to the States.

It was called "Journey to Alpha Centauri". He'd seen on TV that it took three
thousand years to get to Alpha Centauri. He had written it so that if anyone
kept their computer on for three thousand years, they'd be rewarded by a little
dot appearing in the middle of the screen, and then a message saying, "Welcome
to Alpha Centauri. Now go home." -- Terry Pratchett, Only You Can Save Mankind

I would deeply appreciate any New World sources of Footrot Flats; I have
no reliable sources going to Oz anytime soon and the only place I've ever
found FF was in a Kiwi shop in London..... Please respond with the
address of this Dreamworld place. You mean there are annuals, ie color
editions? Many thanks.

the relevance to Pterry's books of Footrot Flats is that they are
twisted and strange and very funny, also partially incomprehensible to
the merkin vocabulary. They are, in fact, likely to go down well with
persons who like Discworld. Thanks very much, Laura Jefferson (not
really David Jones, only pretending.)

Not only that, but there is a *definite* similarity between Greebo and
Horse. For example, when Horse goes hunting for flying things, he
ignores sparrows or seagulls, and goes straight for a hang-glider -- and
wins.

The bad news on the Footrot Flats supply is that it takes forever to get
from there to here. I asked about it and Peder said we could expect some
more in in 3-6 MONTHS. Ouch.

To keep this topical to both groups, DreamHaven also traffics in Pratchett
Paraphernalia. We still have some of the A-P Maps and the Discworld Companions
are on order from Titan. Sorry, I don't think I can convince them to carry the
Holy Anorak.

Disclaimer: Sorry if this sounds too much like an advert. I really don't get
anything out of it. I can send a copy of my paycheck if anyone wants proof...

Can't help you with getting them in the US, sorry, but I can tell you what
there is. The standard collections are up to number 20, with more to come;
there are also four "Weekender" collections (the longer strips that appeared
in newspapers' weekend editions), five pocket books, and three "Collector's
Editions" (which are just omnibus editions of the normal collections).

There have been no colour editions, apart from a very few special one-off
strips (for advertising etc.; I don't think they've ever been collected).
There is a movie, though.

Murray Ball (the artist/writer) has recently announced that FF will soon
be coming to an end; he wants to move into serious political cartoons
(aargh :-( ). Hints in recent strips indicate that the finale will probably
involve the marriage of Wal Footrot and Cheeky Hobson.

But, if I remember right Murray has written/drawn enough strips to keep
going for the next five years.. I've got to admit I haven't been reading
the paper recently, so I don't know what's happening..

Ah, so the strip ends with Wal and Cheeky being pronounced husband and wife and
The Dog keeling over in cardiac arrest as a result? :-)

Forbidden Planet in New Oxford Street ( London, yes ) had 1-6 when I
went there in May. But I would LOVE to get more of them.

Any mail order book shops in NZ ?
