Have you ever wondered who could play sir Pratchett's caracters? I
love "Hogfather" and I rather like "The Colour of Magic", not
Rincewind and Lord Vetinari though; Rincewind was younger and though I
love Jeremy Irons he just doesn't do for Vetinari.
If I could cast the crew I'd choose Mark Strong as Vetinari, Jeremy
Sisto as Vimes, Sienna Miller as Angua and there is only one actress
who could play Esmeralda Weatherwax and that is Hellen Mirren.

This is a recurring theme (and none the worst for that, but see the
intro for the link below) and you will find at:-
http://www.lspace.org/fandom/afp/ultimate-discworld-casting-page.html
there is a 'maintained' list for this subject.

BTW FWIW IMHO there are a couple of rightpondian actresses who would do
an excellent Granny Weatherwax without summoning a leftpondian or
antipodean one! ('though HM is there at pre pre penultimate place!)

Blessings of this season.

How I mentally confused Hellen Mirren with Merrill Streep is beyond my
normal name blindness. (I'm fairly certain MS is leftpondian)
I also think that Eileen Atkins who played Miss Deborah Jenkyns in
Cranford is a contender!

Steven Briggs IS Vetinari; Vetinari is his secret identity.

How so? Is not TP the God of Discworld?

A not very well kept secret?

Helen Mirren is new. It's usually Maggie Smith when this thread happens,
and I've suggested Eileen Atkins before. They would all do just fine.

Which one? Though he's certainly its Creator.

I think Anette Crosbie would be quite good. Anyone whose seen the
animated Wyrd Sisters (she was the best thing in it) knows she can do the
voice, and IMO she's got the right look as well.

That's the important one, since he created all the others.

And he can uncreate them, if he wants to.

Or should that be "If He wants to."

She'd be good at anything she tried, of course, but when it's more than
voice, don't we need someone taller? Obviously Nanny should be Miriam
Margoyles, and either Jessica Hynes or Jane Horrocks for Magrat. But
Tiffany is a problem.

Especially as he spends most of each Discworld Convention dressed up
as Vetinari :-)

That'd work really well, as long as she could do the general irony
too.
