Well kiddies I just ran my first test print of the front of the shirt.
It turned out quite good but still needs a little tweaking mainly
in the small text which didn't come out as clear as I want it.
I have a scan of the actual printed test shirt and Harvey the
sex machine has graciously volunteered to put it up on the
web for curious folks to peruse. If any of you can't wait for
that then email me and I'll send it to you. Harvey also has
the scoop on what's going on the back of the shirts which
hopefully he'll put up on the page as well since I don't feel
like typing it out again right now. A question to the ladies.
Would any of you be interested in baby doll tee's or tanks?
I'm thinking of doing a small run of those as well.

(having looked at the art in Harvey's post)

Oh my god!!

It's so...whoah. I had no idea. LOL! It's excellent...although if I were
Neil, I wouldn't thank the thingies for turning him beat-red at every
con...but still...Heh. It pleases me. :-)

I could definitely do that in a baby-doll. But I would get at least one
big one too...

Please make some of the shirts in sizes smaller than XXL. You think you'll
be able to have these done in time for the San Diego Comicon? It'll be
pretty cool if we all show up in these shirts like a cult or something,
hehe.

Sorry if this has already been brought up, but:
1. How many people here are planning to go to the San Diego Comicon?
2. Is anyone here plan on carpooling or sharing rooms in San Diego?
3. Does anyone know if Gaiman will be doing any autographs?
4. Will Neil will be at any FOG gatherings while in So. CA?

I live close to Disneyland, anyone near me : )

Not baby tees, for me, but please, please could you run at least one adult
small? I'm just under 5 foot--mediums are oversized on me, and the large
and xlarge... Well, I want to wear this shirt outside--I have enough
jammies :-\ Though maybe a medium baby tee would work, too...

Maybe I'll buy a tank or baby doll for the next Rocky Horror Show ;-)

Since ordering anything from France has been a pain in the neck, I convinced

If you're offering, sure. I get fairly lost in bigger shirts. I can handle
a small pretty well...mediums, too...but when we start getting into large
and extra large...well...

I was fully expecting someone to correct
any spelling flaws which is why I was
eager to post the contents of the back
before the actual design is finished. If
there are any more concerns, spelling or
otherwise please email them to me so I
can see to them. My spelling is quite
good but then again I'd never seen that
frickin' word before this place assaulted
my virgin eyes with it.

What the hell, Neil could use a little colour
once in awhile ;) I tried thru two or three
different channels to get Neil's approval on
the shirt out of respect but I never heard
anything back. I did however get full
permission from the lovely Jill Thompson
to use her work. I fully intend to get
permission from any artist I use in the
future and it's very possible that they may
do an original piece just for this.

you leave yourself open too much hun. I'm
finding that I'm restraining myself alot more
often ;) I'm gonna shop around for prices
on the baby doll shirts. You gals may
hafta help a little since I haven't the first
clue about ladies shirts and sizes. I'm
only used to dealing with standard mens
t-shirt sizes which have pretty much
become standard for women as well.
What do ya think? Either baby doll tees
or women's tanks? Or both?

And the Reverend has spoken so let it be
mote! Hallelujah!! Hell that response alone
was worth all the work that's gone into this.
That is probably the best post anyone has
ever written in regards to something related
to myself. I love you man...:::sniff:::
I'd like to publically thank everyone for their
enthusiasm and inspiration towards the
making of this shirt. It's that energy that
helped make it possible for me to spend
many an hour working on it when I should
have been asleep or relaxing. You were
all part of the team that made the shirt
happen so it's lovingly dedicated to you all.
I'd also like to announce that this one
project has inspired me so much that I'm
thinking of forming a non-profit organization
to produce shirts to benefit all sorts of
charities. It's very possible you may see
Inspired Lunacy productions (the company
name created for this shirt) soliciting
special shirts in Previews in the future.
And if so, all thingies are honorary
members of the organization. Don't get too
excited the stock isn't worth anything ;)

When orders are taken you can have any
size you want if you put your order in
before they go to press. I'll be filling those
orders by the thingies as my first concern.
I'll be producing some shirts beyond the
orders but I've no real idea of how many
shirts I'll print beyond those orders. I will
say that it won't be alot because I just
can't afford to foot the bill for the main
reason and for another I want these shirts
to be a limited run. Once they are gone
they will be gone. There will be no second
printing. I'm very seriously thinking of
doing a thingie shirt every year with a
different design by different artists. My
next design is already perkulating in my
head and it's top secret. If I can make it
happen it will be extra special. Wish me
luck. I dunno if they'll be done in time for
Comicon since I still have some tweaking
on the front art to do and I haven't really
started work on the back design but I'm
gonna try to get them out as soon as
possible. They will most definitely be done
for ConCat which was my main target for
them.

Hmmm, I hadn't realized you were in

be too much trouble to do the international
orders. I've done them before for my
alt.tv.highlander shirts. Someone in
France has one of those. It's really cool

Since all the ducks aren't quite in a row
yet I haven't crunched numbers but I'm
shooting for something in the $15. to $20.
range. They'll be right in line with your
average store bought shirt but they'll be
uniquely yours, created with loving
goodness by one of your own and they'll
be benefitting two worthwhile causes. :)

You sound tiny. Tiny is cute. I want
everyone to know that the baby doll and/or
female tanktops will probably be a little
different than the regular shirt. Baby dolls
aren't really meant to have much on the
back so the text will prolly be cut out.
It'll more than likely contain the front
design and the small piece of Thompson
art on the back somewhere with a small
thingie logo on the tail or something. It
will be a little different tho.

Sounds like a brilliant idea, Morningstar. I'm sure Ivory
would prefer to only deal with one envelope of blue glass
beads, rather than 3.

And Ivory, the T-shirt is a masterpiece! I will be ordering
several!

So you're familiar with this kind of foreign orders: that's great (so I'll

Awwww. I really wanted to have "paramasturbatory" on it somewhere...oh well. At
least it'll be on the big shirt.

I think it would still be nice to have the alt.fan.neil-gaiman/thingie thing
across the shoulderblades or something, though.

I think the bdts are better just 'cause they'd be so fiendish and so cute at
the same time...for my money, the difference in effect between a tank-top and a
T-shirt isn't sufficiently striking to have both, unless the weather's really
hot, which it isn't in Berkeley most of the time.

On the other hand, the baby-dolls aren't really everyone's thing.

I agree, and kniowing now that the babydolls, and (I'm assuming here)
the tank tops
won't have the room, (and thinking that there's less room on a tank
top) I'd rather have a

I think you can only get them specialy imported from England. Apparently
the romans sold the little buggers as pets across Europe after they
invaded Britain so now they're hard to find.

I can see it now...people stop to read the back of your shirt and
start slowly, very slowly, backing away...except in my case, all
my friends would probably ask me to explain what
"paramasturbatory" meant.

> I think it would still be nice to have the

That's definitely a nice idea right there. But having it along
the bottom's not a bad idea for the babydolls, either. I would
really, really want the "Intelligent people, stupid behavior" bit
on there, if at all possible...that's my favorite part.

And since I don't feel like replying to the other post of
Ivory's...I think it's cool you tried to let Neil know, and I'm
sure he's heard about this whole project from someone. And if he
hasn't...well, he'll see them soon enough, I suppose...

Be careful not to assume the "tiny cute lil, etc." are defenseless and
harmless. Some movie I saw once, or comic (I'm not sure, except the memory
is very visual) of a sweet, pretty little fairy with dragonfly wings, about
two inches high--except she/he had a mouthfull of dagger sharp teeth, and
ended up doing great harm to someone who underestimated....

Chris

Oh believe me I never underestimate
anyone. I have the advantage of most
people underestimating me. Considering
that a tiny, cute to the bone lil gal has
utterly devastated me I most certainly
wouldn't think they were harmless. The
cuteness factor actually is deadly in itself.
Nope I'm rather quite fond of shorties.

I'm planning on being there all Con, but not the Expo. Unfortunately, my date
with Amtrak is on the last day of the Expo. Of course, anyone else going to
the Expo would be greatly rewarded with eternal gratitude if they could

Ok OK *twisted arm* I'm in "the valley" too, but which end is the odd one...
the whole place is kinda surreal.

So does anyone want to meet up there or is this just a we'll all be there
but you never know if the people on the other end of the keyboard are
wielding axes and foaming at the mouth so well just all say we're going to
be there and leave it at that?

(ok so I'd have to borrow the axe *grin*).

Odd = North/West area...Kinda West Hills/Canoga Park/Chatsworth/Northridge and
stuff. It's where everybody thinks they're high class as aristocratic...until
you point out to them that they live in the West Valley, not Hollywood Hills.

Oh yeah...plenty of shopping places at Fallbrook, Topanga, and Northridge
malls. Ooooh, high-end stuff there.

> So does anyone want to meet up there

Sounds good. I'll be the one with the digital camera. (Like that's
distinct...)

> or is this just a we'll all be there but you never know

Hrm. Well, I do own an axe (a few, actually) and I tend to foam at the mouth
(when excited or brushing my teeth)...that's not a bad description. I say
whomever's going to ComicCon, we should all meet up and go out to dinner or
something. Of course, I'd be the type of person to say 'Hey...why don't we go
find a paintball range and introduce ourselves over high-speed projectiles and
air-powered weaponry?' but I'm pretty sure that's not fly....even for a white
guy.

<sighs> Sorry. Long day, long night, and *way* too much coffee and ginseng

Umm in a word, NO! To put it mildly my
tastes are quite varied. I do have a thing
for munchkins but I've also got a thing for
tall thin ladies too. But frankly the person
inside makes the most difference. The
physical attraction part is easy. It's
whether or not you can click with whoever
inhabits the yummy exteriour. There are
scads of girlies out there of every shape
and size that pass the physical test but
only a very small percentage that I don't
wanna strangle after being around them for
five minutes.

Now what was the litho again? I think I'll
prolly want one of those. Could someone
pick me up one?

Ah, the carefree funzone that is the online world. Hurrah!

[apologies if this is irrelevant or has been covered; for the moment Netcom
shell account newsservers are treating alt.fan groups like binaries groups
in terms of expire time, so articles are expiring in a matter of hours and
I didn't see the preceding articles to the one I'm responding to]

Y'all do know that the Expo is a very separate part of the week, and costs
extra, right? The lithographs are only given out to the Expo attendees, and
it's not at all easy to scam extras; they don't just leave them out on a
table for people to grab or give extras for the heck of it.

As a side note, it looks like the annual pro/fan trivia contest will be
either Saturday afternoon or Sunday. While the topic's limited to pre-Crisis
(i.e. pre-1986) comics, so no Neil stuff, yours truly will be again
captaining the fan team against Len Wein, Kurt Busiek, and Mark Waid. From
what I've been told, it's fun even for audience members who don't know any
of the answers as there's a lot of jokes and mock insults tossed back and
forth between the teams. I'll also be on at least the Fandom On The
Internet panel.

Wow, all the qualities of an officer and gentleman. Err, well, a
gentleman, anyway. Uh...but I don't think gentlemen use the word "yummy".
How 'bout just a real nice guy? :-)

You smooth dog Ivory. Linking the lady with the incomparable,(because I
can't think of anything to compare him with,) Jimmy Walker. That would
never have occurred to me.
