Well, my father passed away in late June of this year and while
cleaning out his basement apartment (youtube...search on "1922 Hoard"
for the video of the place before cleaning), we found -- buried in a
back closet along with the Planet of the Apes model kits -- the film.
I spun out several yards of it and it still seems to be in good
condition. For once I was glad that my father never threw away
anything because along with the film were a personalized "holiday"
card from him (1981) and a couple other items Jittlov inlcuded in the
package the film arrived in.
I was going to put it up on eBay, but I thought I'd check around
various other more targeted sources before doing so.
Selling off on ebay what your father took a lifetime to collect and
care for. Nice job.
Excuse me...what?
A. I don't have a 16mm projector to play it on, otherwise I WOULD
keep it. I can't even begin to tell you how much I and my sisters
enjoyed sitting in the big ballroom at the Hunt Valley Inn during one
Balticon, sitting right next to the projector while Mr. Jittlov
narrated his way thru his short films.
B. Did you look at the youtube video I mentioned? Have you any idea
how much of that stuff is now residing in my basement, my sisters'
basements, and my mother's garage? That's excluding the hundreds of
15-20 year old software and computer magazines he kept which are now
recycled.
C. Do you have any clue how much money it takes to bury someone these
days who sold their insurance years ago to keep spending money at
QVC? Much less the costs of cleaning out the previously mentioned
apartment.
D. I don't have enough room in my house to keep even 25% of the
books, CDs, movies, models, memorabilia, furniture, boardgames,
collectibles, and outdated computer equipment he collected over his
lifetime.
I'm sorry for bothering to post this message here first. I really
thought I was doing the subscribers of this group a favor considering
that they would probably appreciate the film more than most.
Go get high and mighty somewhere else.
Hmm, your local computer clubs probably would have liked the old
magazines. For nostalgia if nothing else.
It's a troll - feel free to ignore it. It'll say whatever it thinks it needs to,
to get a rise out of you. (And it seems to be working...?)
For some unknown reason, random trolls keep turning up here - they post more often
than the regulars, it seems, sometimes. Perhaps they're counting on our perceived
earnestness and lack of experience to make their trolling easier.
Your bringing up your find here IS appreciated. Killfile the troll(s) that appear
and wait for real responses to the subject at hand. (I find it interesting but
don't have the means to project it or anywhere to store it - if I still belonged
to an otaku group I'd see if the group were willing to consider raising money for
it and finding a place to store it.)
If you don't get a real response here in an amount of time you're comfortable
with, I'm pretty sure it would stir up some interest on eBay.

Actually, if you're interested in seeing it go to someone more
appreciative, you might try looking into 16mm forums. Real collectors
go there and trade films quite often there. At least you could get
real advice (no pun intended)
I wish I were in a position to buy this treasure from you, but alas
I'm not. (I do have some 16mm film, but it lacks the other parts you
mention.) I used to go to 16mmfilmtalk.com.

What exactly would you prefer? Somebody who doesn't have an interest
keeping the stuff? I'm afraid you have to decide which of your
parents' belongings are meaningful to you, and keep those. For the
rest, ebay is far better than the scrap heap.
I've got a pretty eclectic collection of some of my parents'
belongings -- my mom's comptometer, my father's and grandfather's
shotguns (in condition which would make them dangerous to shoot), my
parents' car...
Don't worry about him -- his response was that of a jerk.
> Your bringing up your find here IS appreciated.
Yes, very much. Thanks.
Walt
If you would like to email me about what you want for them I would be
appreciative. I am very interested in making a HIGH quality transfer
of some of Mike's work but the evils of ebay have prevented me thus
far. Never seen time tripper on 16 before. cool.
Joe, good response(s) otherwise, but please don't feed the troll. They thrive on
responses to their postings and any other form of attention. They're almost what
a Usenet newsreader's killfile was made for.
Careful with that knee, old man, you might hurt someone. Heh. Even if
bozopriester is a troll (no evidence to that at all), it's still a valid
point, if somewhat incautiously stated.
My house is packed full of objects of various values, but it would be really
sad, if when my son eventually inherits my mess, he were to sell off the
things that I've held as important to me. When we were going through my
grandparents' house, I made the mistake of only grabbing a handful of things
that he'd saved...now, the rest is gone forever, and I wish I'd made more of
an effort. When my parents go, I fully intend to guard as much of their
stuff as I can from oblivion.
Not bozopriester - shabaz2000. Please read the quoting more carefully next time.
My concentration was terrible last week...but I think yours was a bit iffy
too, as your followup began with "bozopriester wrote:"...heh. Makes it look
like you were responding to him.
At any rate, I believe you knew who I meant. That was still a knee-jerk
reaction in your post...not that you might not be right, or anything.
Why did Arrogant Worms "Dog Food Woman" just now pop into my head? I guess
I'd just better play it soon.
I am really interested in purchasing this film, to get back on the
subject at hand. malcom...@gmail.com (if you're still interested in
selling)
