I joined this group because The Wizard of Speed & Time is my favorite movie. I would very much enjoy learning what other people who are WoS&T fans love about this film.

Presumably, you're speaking of the feature-length WoSaT.
What _isn't_ to love about it? It's by and about our favorite animator, it echoes reality, it's funny as hell, it has lots of subliminal stuff to try to pick up on.....I think I could go on, and on, and on........

Re: ".I think I could go on, and on, and on........" Please...go ahead. Go on.
I've come across references to subliminal messages in the film, but I don't know anything about them.
And , yes, I'm referring to the full length film. All I know about is the film itself, which I've watched many times. I would love to see it made into a DVD with a richness of extra features. such as interviews with the principle players, the producer, etc. And I've often wondered about all the movie posters on the wall of the Wizard's room. Are they just props or do they refer to other movies The Wizard has made? If they do I would totally hope to see at least some of them included on the DVD. And maybe someone involved with the film could do an interview where someone else explains about "Bob", who's pipe- smoking grinning face is painted on the side of the Yin/Yang Pizza's van. ( I noticed *that* after I watched the movie again, after I finally got a PC and came across the Sub Genius people on the internet.) And every time I watch the VHS I keep thinking if only the movie was a DVD I could easily zoom in and slo-mo past that "stuff" The Wizard's got in that slide projector cranny in the wall of his living room. Just to mention a few things.
And yeah, the film is funny, and charming, and mystical, and magical, and enthusiastic, and hopeful, and creative, and NICE. And, you know, I don't watch it every day, or even often, actually, but whenever I'm feeling particularly discouraged...when I'm feeling particularly tired of the cruel & grim, & cynical...I put WoSaT in my VCR...And I'm off to see the Wizard...

Read the old posts, also check out what Mike has to say on his site.

I see.....well, Mike Jittlov made a short film in 1979 with the same title, and sold 16mm copies for some years afterward. I had the good fortune to join a science fiction club (CHampaign-Urbana Science Fiction Association) that had purchased a copy fairly shortly before I joined. You may find it worthwhile to read this group on Google Groups, since activity has slowed to a crawl here...that is, read the old posts, you should find many of them quite interesting.
I have intended to send DVD copies of the feature to some people, but haven't, due to some problems I'm trying to get past...so I won't promise to make one just yet. I'll let people know when I'm sorted out.
In the meantime, you could search for the torrent for it.......
Thanks for getting back to me.. If you ever get around to making a DVD of the short film please let me know.
I've visited www.wizworld. I think that may be where I originally came across the reference to the fact that there are subliminals in the movie.
As for slogging through the posts of WoSat past...while some of the information back in there will probablly prove interesting, the reason I hooked up with this group was in hopes of connecting with other fellow humans, who love WoSaT.
I first stumbled across the movie over twenty years ago. I've traveled very far since then, I've been to many places, and I've met many people, but most of them have never seen or even heard of this movie.
Selfishly, I confess, it's obscurity actually endears it to me even more. But still, it would be nice, even if it's only occasionally, to communicate with a few other people who GET it. I mean people who are Star Wars fans, or Casablanca fans, and/or fans of other, more popularly famous films, they number in the thousands (& thousands). (I love Casablanca. I GET Casablanca, btw) But when it comes to my love of TWoSaT, I'm like a voice whistling in the wilderness...so to speak.
Anyways, I have to go and do other stuff now, but it was nice to find out there are still a few other souls lingering around here (you know who you are).

Heh...actually, the short fits nicely on a CD.

That's certainly a sad fact.

*sniff* *sniff* Ah, come on in, join the rest of the odors.
I am also one of those folk with Mike's blessing to spread the Green Magic around in the form of DVDs of the film. I have the full files on my harddrive and would be happy to knock off a pristine copy and post it to you. I also have the original short film and can copy that for you as well. Contact me privately off the newsgroup at whocrui...@aol.com (whocruiserATaolDOTcom) with your mailing address and I'll get it off on it's way to you :-)

I'm happy to share the Green Magic with anyone who wants it. In in the true Jittlovian spirit, there's no charge for it, although should anyone want to donate to cover just my actual costs for disc, label, box, color box insert, and domestic USA postage, which comes to about $3 total, it will be gladly accepted. Once again, contact me privately by e-mail at whocrui...@aol.com (whocruiser AT aol DOT com) and we'll take it from there.
