Excuse me but the Democrats were the party of civil rights and I am damn
proud of that, more proud of that than anything.
In 1946, Democratic President Harry Truman integrated the armed forces
In 1948, the young Democratic mayor of Minneapolis introduced a equal
rights addition to the Democratic platform (it passed)
Whatever you can say about LBJ, he did pass very significant civil
rights legislation.

Part you're leaving out here is that all of those 'democrats' that
tried to block those reforms left the Democratic party and were
welcomed into the Republican party.

Another reichtard trying to rewrite history. Almost all the Dixiecrats
opposing civil rights wound up in the GOP. That tells me all I need to
know about which party is for *all* the people and which party is full

Was it worth 1000 US military dead and 7000 seriously injured? Did you
volunteer to risk your ass for the Great Liberation of Iraq? I didn't
think so.
Learn to distinguish Conservatives, Liberals, Democrats, and
Republicans, and their interrelationships over the years.
I give up. How would that work?
Besides, English sort of is German, just a bastardized dialect.
Apparently, the Republicans have written the Goldwater-Nixon-Reagan
era out of the history books, and their very deliberate and greatly
successful attempt to recruit the racist vote away from the Democrats.
(We don't want them back, thanks).
Launching an attack on somebody because they don't like you and you
think that if they had any weapons they might sometimes attack you is
also not the most popular.
And on the inside, they consider it a goal to unite the two concepts.

Yes. That is why I vote Republican.
You are forgetting that it was the Party of Lincoln that freed the
slaves . . . the Republican Party.
You're also forgetting that the Civil Rights bill would not have

even voted against the Civil Rights bill.

ISLAM: Winning the hearts and minds of the world, one bomb at a time.
True, it is not. But the US presidential election campaign is. The campaign
leaders concentrate *only* on winning votes, using the best means psychology has
devised to manipulate the opinions of the voting population; right or wrong be
damned. The rest of the world is not hampered by the campaign smokescreens and
thus has a much better chance than the voting population of the US to see things
as they are.

They don't need an invitation. They'll go over there as and when they
want to - just like the other two times they have.
>You notice one thing all the hits on the USA have stopped.
>Maybe you don't like that????
Two hits in the history of the US doesn't exactly qualify anyone to
make the statement "all the hits...".
All this American willy-waving in the middle east has made fuck-all
difference to al-qaeda except to drive people towards joining them.
The so-called "war on terrorism" has been the biggest recruitment
boost the terrorists could possibly have hoped for.
As, no doubt, the US and other western countries will find out in due
course.
Thanks, Yanks, it's just what we all needed. Even *more* instability.

Really? To whom?
Reality check, sonny - not all usenet users are Americans, not all
usenet users share American "values" and the vast majority couldn't
give a flying fuck about your stupid "American Dream".
If you can't face the truth, you should stick to watching your beloved
Fox News - that's a mercifully truth-free comfort zone for you.
The basic fact of the matter is, that your actions in Iraq have
increased the likelihood of terrorist attacks, not decreased them.
If you truly, honestly believe that the likelihood of a terrorist
attack has decreased, why is there so much more security around now
than there was a few years ago?
Quite apart, that is, from the fact that it suits your government to
keep you all scared and "dependent" upon them (and therefore more
likely to vote them back again).

Fair enough. I'm sure there's a proper balance.
>It's also apparent that Americans are more susceptible to being manipulated
>in the first place
>than folks in other countries..
All the propaganda is aimed at Americans. The political parties don't
bother so much to try to brainwash everyone else.
Americans don't realize the effect of soft-censorship -- so much news
that is simply never reported. It is not banned, just never reported.
Outside America it sees the light of day.
Inside America, any news not on TV is not real. It is treated as
rumour, even if were on the front page of a national foreign
newspaper.
American arrogance and a Nazi-like belief in their superiority over
all other nations keeps them in ignorance. If the news is not
American, it is considered worthless.

Indeed you should not. Get the facts as best you can, consider what weight *you*
give to them, and then decide. This is the foundation of democracy. In the words
of your illustrious countryman Robert Heinlein:
---
What are the facts? Again and again and again -- what are the facts? Shun
wishful thinking, ignore divine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell,"
avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable
"verdict of history" -- what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You
pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your single clue. Get the facts!

Especially if you remember the old days of rational discussion in the
newsgroups, this triumph of noise over signal may sadden you. However, there
are still alternatives. For example, there are many moderated forums on the
Internet where civil discussions and real conversations can be found. Even
better if you can build bridges to real people in the physical world. For
example, you could treat a rational RINO to a movie--like Fahrenheit 9/11.
Lots of good books still being published, or you could write a letter to the
editor for your local paper--you'll reach more real people and have more
impact than here. Or you could donate to the political campaigns--I confess
I've already made five donations. Just remember that big money is harming
democracy, that BushCo has more money than anyone, and if money alone
decides elections then the American republic is already dead.
On the other hand, if you are a Bushevik troll, then in the immortal words
of the unloved Dick Cheney: "Go fuck yourself." That mentality goes a long

Yes, it does. I realise in the US that the thoughts of the majority
are irrelevant, but since "right" and "wrong" are subjective, not
objective, concepts, if 86% disagrees then it's a fairly firm
indication that the 14% need to re-evaluate their stance.
