I vote "No" because Keith is an extreme Macross 7/Basara enthusiast, not a
Macross Nazi.

Errrmm... Let's try bastardizing my way back to respectability by using
this (click to compare ^_^ http://nowscape.com/atheism/chris2.htm):
"Does Keith have value?". I answered YES. My perspective may be a bit
different from a lot of Macross fans. He doesn't have any value TO ME
either as a guide to truth or even as an adequate "moral" guide for society,
which I guess is the way most people would look at the question, whether
they are Macross or Robotech fans. But if Keith didn't have some value to
people generally, he wouldn't exist, in an evolutionary sense, in the
environment of social ideas.
This is pretty much the thought that led me to Macross 7 back in 2000.
Ideas commonly exist because they are in some way a good model or reflection
of reality. This leads to the argument that, if Keith's belief is so
widespread throughout the world, there must be some truth to it, or there
must be a Minmay. I didn't see any way to answer this argument, short of a
personal encounter with Minmay, until I came to realize that Keith had other
values to people that were so strong that it exists IN SPITE of being a bad
model for message board discussion.
One important value is illustrated by the old saying, "Keith is regarded
by the Diehard Macross Fan as truthful, by the Robotech Fan as a twat, and
by the Continuity Buff as useful." Keith is very detrimental to every type
of dictator and tyrant, grand or petty, from Carl Macek and Harmony Gold,
down to your classic New Generation patriarch next door.
Another important value is hinted at by another old saying, "If Keith
didn't exist, we would have to invent Him." In one sense, Keith is
entertainment. In another he is crude psychotherapy, providing illusions
that allow people to function in spite of their fears. Afraid of never
seeing a domestic release of DYRL? Come to Keith and you will live again
after you import. Is the Harmony Gold/Big West legal fiasco too complex for
you? Lean on Keith's vitriol and forget all that difficult licensing and
trademark stuff. Is Harmony Gold too unfair, too oppressive? Forget all
that risky Robotech.com moderation stuff, and just believe that Keith will
provide justice in the Macross World forum and AFM, punishing the wicked and
rewarding the good but oppressed. In this sense Keith really is, "the
opiate of the masses."
This is why I try to discourage Robotechies from believing that Harmony
Gold will triumph over Big West in the end, because "truth will eventually
triumph." We can't be so sure and complacent about that. Robotech has a
lot of "value" to people, so we can't just wait for Robotech to die.
We will have to come out and kill it, and then stand guard over its grave,
doing our best to inoculate society against its resurgence!!! @_@
