Hell, you even get dinky little pilot figures to stick in the cockpit, the
contrived Toyami's literally have nothing on these except for appearing more
like VF-2JA's.
Taka/Bandai re-release? Too little, too late. The Yamato's will reign as the
perfect VF-1 toy.

Except you have to remove the legs to transfform it, and the nose looks
horrible with that odd tip on it....looking like those rubber noses they
used to have on those Decepitcon jets.
Besides all of that, they are small, which probably also means, just
like the YF1-9 and 21, that they are far more fragile than the original
1/55's were. Would anyone really want to put down their money on a
product made by a company that has had serious quality control issues in
the past?
Thanks anyways, I'll be saving my money for a BanDai Takatuko 1/55

And they'll outsell the Yamato's hands down. Check the Macross World Toy
forum's, the 1/55's are all they talk about.

I just don't see why some people are so eager to except the kind of
shotty workmanship Yamato puts into their toys.
And speaking of shotty workmanship, has anybody gotten the Akira DVD?
Can you say "holy line enhancement, Batman!"? They have a great package,
great menus, clean the film up, and then RUIN it by destroying the fluid
lines of the animation, and making them look jagged and unnatural. The
line enhancement is so obvious and prevalent that its distracting.

Heh. Well, while I hope he's wrong about the upcoming VF-1's, I wouldn't mind
if the Takatoku remakes are vastly superior.
-Jeff Jhee
According to ToyboxDX, they are the original, actual VF-1J molds, not a remake.
(They weren't "lost" or "unusable" afterall----hmmmm)

Couldn't have said it better... as much as I like Yamato's work (and the
figs themselves) so far, the construction on the figures is poorly done at
best, as the damn things seem to fall apart in any given place whenever
the wind blows (and one peek at any Macross board will confirm this).
And whether or not you agree, I don't wanna pull the legs off my goddamn
Valkyrie to transform. :)

Now when the legs fall off after a 2-foot dive to the floor, you can easily
stick the legs back on without costly repair!
The by-product of this innovation is a more accurate profile in all modes!!!

I just got my Akira DVDs, so I'll have to check that out.

Hmmmmmm...... bummer.
Guess I'll just watch my Robotech DVDs then. They didn't fiddle with
the quality of those. :)

Problem being what? Psst, you also have to remove the gunpod to place it in the
hand, and hell, remove a hand to replace it with a trigger hand. Get over it.

Now you're just being anal, there's no problem with the nosecone.

They're most likely going to be between 1/72 & 1/65 scale, hardly miniature.
Worries of fragility in the simple VF-1 design is just plain idiotic. It'll
transform 90% like all VF-1 toys released in the past, aside from the
detatchable legs. Just because you got a first gen defective YF-19 (mine being
a version 2 that's survived through many trouble free transformations) hardly
gives you reason to condemn the whole line. The only problematic release has
been that first version YF-19.
>Thanks anyways, I'll be saving my money for a BanDai Takatuko 1/55
>Strike Valk.
You can save all you want, but it'll never come. Do you honestly believe Bandai
will release past the VF-1J?
Well, from all I have been reading, that seems to be the plan, Keith.
And, BTW, remnoving the legs is alot different from removing the gunpod.

God
I agree with Keith.
First, there are very very few chances of seeing the Bandai DYRL Valkyries.
Since Yamato purchased the license for the DYRL toys to Big West, Bandai is
left with the SDF Macross toys.
I think that's why the toys are "Re-release of the Takatoku toys by Bandai",
and no "Re-release of the Bandai toys".
Furthermore, knowing how Bandai treated Macross for 20 years, they'll probably
release
only the VF-1J, and, in the heat of the 20th, the Super VF-1S .
For Bandai, Macross has always been and is still a secondary license, a good
way to make some more cash but not a big thing to take care.
At best they will re-release the others Takatoku, (VF-1S, VF-1A, Max, Milia and
the GBP-1S) but I'm really sceptical about that.
Plus I bet the packaging will be gay (look at the Mac7 re-issues or even at
the Yamato).

I own the following:
YF-19 (ver2)
YF-21
VF-11
All came complete.
All transform perfectly.
None are broken or even showing signs of excessive wear.
Haven't you beat this horse enough?
Not as long as people are posting on it.

Your the only one I see complaining.
I care, and so do a bunch of customers.
Com'on, when you're buying a 6800Y toy which is furthermore labeled "limited
release", you're in the right of asking a nice packaging, something better than
a crappy box that looks like a cheap Taiwan bootleg.
That doesn't mean I'm not going to buy the 1/55 release(s), the Taka being THE
Macross toy by excellence.

Removing the legs is hardly the significant bitch you're making it out to be,
nor is it anything major to begin with. Most certainly a worthwhile trade off
to get rid of the annoying hindge that blocks the side of the cokcpit.
