This is the Ball State Fighting Football Cardinals Fighting Football
Cardinals Beef O'Brady's Bowl postgame show.
Ball State is still looking for its first ever bowl game victory, as
they lost to Central Florida 38-17 tonight in the Beef O'Brady's Bowl
St. Petersburg.
The Knights opened the scoring in the first quarter when Blake
Bortles connected with Latavius Murray on a seven-yard TD pass. UCF made
it 13-0 when Murray scored from two yards out; the PAT was blocked.
Keith Wenning, returning as FFC quarterback, threw a seven-yard TD
pass to Willie Snead to cut the lead to 13-7. Bortles ran it in by
himself, and then threw a two-point conversion to make it 21-7. Murray
scored again on a five-yard pass to Bortles to extend the lead to 28-7
at halftime.
Steven Schott opened the second half scoring with a 45-yard field
goal to cut the Knights' lead to 28-10, but Bortles threw another TD
pass, a seven-yarder to J.J. Worton that make the lead to 35-10.
After a UCF field goal, Wenning and Snead had their second TD pass
of the game - a 16-yarder that ended the FFC scoring for the game, and
the season.
Wenning went 22-for-34 for 218 yards and two TDs. Jahwan Edwards led
the rushers with 89 yards on 14 carries. Snead the receivers with 78
yards on seven catches.
Ball State finishes 2012 with a 9-4 record. Central Florida concludes
the year at 10-4.
Ball State's next game is scheduled for August 29, 2013, when they
host Illinois State at the Dave.
For the last time this season, this has been the Ball State Fighting
