In the "Wahoo" for Nov. 24, Mike reports,
"ACT 4:
Dave has become reflective of late and has come to understand there
are 3 certainties in life:
1. when you pull a hair out of your nose, you are guaranteed to
sneeze.
2. when you grab a handful of salt peanuts, you are guaranteed to
shake them in your hand.
3. If you are a guy and you know how to fold a sweater, chances are
you are gay."

Around these parts, the show went from Zac Efron to commercials to
Carrie Fisher.

The audience pan came after Carrie Fisher... not before.

It seems that a certain amount of fancy editing was done before air
time, or my local station swiped an act from me, in favor of
commercials.

Aw... none of this really matters. Dave's favorite Thanksgiving guest,
Natalie Portman, is on tonight.

========================

In this week's newsletter, Donz reminded us of the Peace Through
Dramatization Players, with "Thanksgiving 1999." Jeff Martin (you
know, Flunky the Viewer Mail Clown) plays the patriarch of the PTD
family. David Letterman himself has a major part, and Indy 500 champ
Bobby Rahal is also on the set. I have it in my Video Archives at:

This episode aired 23 years ago today, on 11/25/86.

Or was that writer Larry Jacobson? Bobby Rahal had been on the show
the day before in an interview, but that racing jacket looks like it
was thrown together by the props department.

Yeah, that was Larry; the episode to which you refer is titled "The
First Thanksgiving"; "Thanksgiving 1999" was the first "Peace Through
Dramatization Players" performance, from 1982.

Not to worry, though; it's a common mistake. Folks have been confusing
the two for years.

Playing the wife: Marie O'Donnell (no relation to Steve, Rosie, or
Chris).

Playing the son Jimmy: Phillip Daniels.

The audience sweep has been juggled around lately...it seems to be with
the timing of interview segments...the closing came after Rihanna sang, then
commercial break, then Dave greeting Rihanna onstage and credits.

The sweep is in the correct position, before the last 2 commercial
breaks, but the musical segment was...well...segmented.

I wonder how Simon feels about being Dave's answer to Ed Ames with the
tomahawk....

(Or does that honor go to Richard Simmons in a turkey suit?)...r

Randwill - I was thinking of you as I watched the monologue last night
- he went through every one of your favorite jokes, even the Geico
one.

You think maybe he's doing it on purpose?
