I was confused by Dave's dog story... did the vet scan the dog and not find
a chip, or did he find a chip that was blank? Why would you put a chip in
a dog without any of the information necessary to identify it?

Dave said there was a chip in the dog's ear, but it had no information
on it. I know, it doesn't make sense, but there you have it. The
picture of Harry holding the chihuahua was sweet, although Harry
looked a tad wistful. The dog looked like a perfectly nice little dog,
just the right size for a child.

There are several types of chips and they take different scanners to
read them.

It might be that the chip wasn't compatible with the scanner used.

The only good use for a chihuahua is a taco.

Dave's correct...they are just overgrown rats.

That was Dave's question.

Maybe...but maybe seeing the dog on TV, the family will come forward
if they still want it.

I would say most people, most normal people, a club of which I am not
a member,
do not watch the show every night so they don't notice/care. That
being said, I
find myself giggling out loud at the "thing on DT's head" jokes
lately. Especially
fond of the one where "it caught the bouquet" at his daughter's
wedding. It's the visual.

That's what I was thinking. The chip wasn't blank, but not compatible
with the scanning system. Best bet to go to the Humane Society.

And while I'm certainly no Chihuahua fan, I was slightly disturbed by
Dave's hypothetical references to tossing the dog in the East river.

But if they do....poor Harry! He's already named it, and in the
picture looked like it was already his doggie - dressed in a sweater
and everything. He's going to be heartbroken if he has to give little
Hugo Chavez back to its owner. (I was awaiting a "Paris Hilton and
one of her many 'lost' chihuahuas" joke, but we got the East River
instead...bah...)

Naw. I like the show. I just hate the nightly repitition of the same
monologue. I think it would improve the show as whole if new and funny
material could be written for the monologues instead of the same jokes being
repeated every night. But I realize that others here enjoy hearing the same
material over and over. And ratings are up, so why change anything?

Do I sense the beginning hints of a "Michael Vick Fan Club" in the
works? Why not talk about taking a dog and drowning it? Dave's on a
roll, why not keep it going? I hope, since it's Harry's birthday
today, that his guardian angel arranges for him to keep his perfectly
sweet little love object. Hugo Chavez is his, and I'm sure Mike
McIntee is thinking about getting a chihuaha at this very minute for
his daughters. ;) Btw, it's amazing how much Harry resembled Regina in
that picture.

I knew they were going to find that dog's owner once they showed the
picture. I mean, Dave had no intention of keeping the dog once they
brought it to the vet to have it scanned for an ID chip. Probably a
million people called the dog's owner after the pic was shown, "I
think we know where your missing dog is."

Maybe...they'll get Harry another dog if Harry still wants a dog

So the little dog's name was Oliver. He looked like an Oliver. Better
than a Hugo.

Hope Harry took the situation without too much pain. I agree a new dog
for Harry would be a good idea. :) A Cairn terrier (like Toto in "The
Wizard of Oz") would keep him busy and amused.

Whereas a chihuahua would just make him jumpy and neurotic....

A poodle, on the other hand, might well cause him to experience
hallucinations....r

No! Carin Terriers are the worst! More vicious than pitbulls.

The only pitbull I've known personally had a personality that I'd classify as
"joyous numbskull"....

Came home one evening when he was playing with his owner and had to unload a lot
of shopping from the car...when he saw me moving around he came bounding across
the parking lot to say hello and see what I'd bought, apparently missing in the
dim light the fact that the passenger-side door was standing wide open...at a
full run, he ran his head squarely into the edge of the door....

Not a yelp, not a whimper...his only reaction was one of puzzlement that somehow
he had abruptly stopped moving forward and he couldn't figure out why....

I don't care how thick your skull is or how muscular your neck, you'd think a
direct blow to the head with that kind of force has to hurt at least a
little....

I used to wonder if he had the same bred-in desires as other dogs to jump and
chase frisbees, but that they were thwarted by the short stumpy neck and short
stumpy limbs...I needn't have worried for his fulfillment; one day he discovered
a shopping cart that someone had knocked on its side near the garbage
dumpsters...he was pawing at one of the wheels of the cart, spinning it as fast
as he could get it to go, and quite clearly enjoying every second of this
project....

So I guess what I'm saying is that pitbulls have a bad rap and can be as playful
and kind as any other animal...your basic chow, on the other hand, is psychotic
by nature....r

My favorite person in the whole world...an animal lover par
excellance.

I defend my choice of Cairn terrier. I had a female and she was so
smart it was literally shocking. Loving, too. Let's not start negative
rumors about Toto in "Wizard of Oz," please. What Tony wrote is
hearsay. Let him back up his scurullious statement with charts and

Hearsay, you say? I'll have you know my aunt's late Carin terrier was the
most unpleasant dog I have ever known. She bit me twice when I was only 11
or 12, and nobody else in the family seemeed to care. I was the only
person in the family she hated, too. She used to come to the cabin on the
4th of July and whimper and wail because of all the firework noise. Then,
she'd run down to the lakeshore and angrily bark at the waves crashing
against the shoreline. Not long before she died, she had to have all her
teeth pulled. Irony's a bitch, but then again, so was she.

Nobody else seemed to care when a dog bit you when you were child?
That is child abuse. The family's negligence has obviously caused a
transference of resentment from the family to the dog, who was only
being an uncontrolled pet. I'm sorry you were hurt, and advise the
court to understand your comments in light of your having suffered
personal injury without the usual family concern being present.

The defense rests, your Honor.
