Hi Bruno,
The cruise was very nice. We traveled with another couple. Of the
eleven commercial ships I've been on, this one (Norwegian Pearl of
Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL)) was the most enjoyable. My honey really
enjoyed it too. Until this one, she had been turned off about large
cruise ships, favoring the much smaller river cruise ships in Europe
and Russia. Now, she is fired up to go on another NCL one.
Departure and termination were in Miami, The islands visited were
Stirrup Cay (owned by NCL), Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. We
visited all excepting Stirrup Cay. Our visits on the others was 3 to
four hours. I can't tolerate long bus trips any more. Because we
have been jaded by many tropical island before, we found the islands
un-remarkable. Those who wanted to buy gems could fine good deals in
Grand Cayman.
We played many games of Mexican Train and Rummycube near one of the
swimming pools on deck 13. The games are not commonly known, so we
had lots of on-lookers.
The temperatures were in the 80's and 90" with only a couple light
rains.
The 965 foot long ship was fantastic. Good food. Excellent
accommodations and service. Lots of good entertainment. Several good
bars that knew how to build martinis without coaching. :) Stayed
out of the casino. Our favorite show was four entertainers doing
Frankie Valli songs.
The first day out in the Atlantic, we had some light seas that made
dancing interesting. It was necessary to add some extra steps to our
dances in order to keep our feet under us! It was much fun. My honey
and I never get seasick, but the other guy had to wear a patch to stay
well.
May countries were represented in the crew. Lots of Philippinos, so I
got to limber up my Tagalog.
The below links will show highlights of the ship.
Flying back to Tucson was a two-day ordeal caused by a very delayed
plane at Miami International. All the passengers had to get
re-routed. The airline provided free food and room and routed us
through Chicago late the next day. Very tiring and trying. Got home
at midnight. Then crashed!!!
And, I would do it all over again!!
