Hi bruno,
Good to hear from you.
I can't directly address the Dianetic's techniques.. only read about
them. RC didn't use the processes you mentioned.
I think the RC co-counseling process came out of the "auditing"
process of Dianetics. Is was essentially having a person repeatedly
scanning their history, looking for "flags" that indicate a painful
experience. Once identified, the person was coached to repeatedly
re-experiencing the event. The goal was to have all the "charge" on a
painful experience be discharged through emotional crying, yelling,
etc, etc. The form of discharge was all over the map and was often
quite dramatic. Often the "counselor" would get their own "stuff"
re-stimulated to the point that they needed a session with a staff
counselor. The trick for co-counseling was to link up with a mutually
effective partner.
So, yes, there were some good results from RC, and I still use the
techniques whenever someone among my family and friends need support.
The downside was that the process was lengthy, and staff
(professional) counseling was pricey. Given the mass of pain
experience in a lifetime, the process would take forever, ensuring the
financial future of RC.
Being a guy, I wasn't aware of Jackin's shenanigans with the women
clients. I did note that the co-counseling process could lead to
inappropriate intimacy. I had a couple close calls, but didn't
imbibe. Given the way my marriage ended some years later, I often
regretted that I didn't imbibe. :)
One of the main benefits of the est training was that I could bypass
all those hours and hours of processing-out victim-ness (as well as
reading all those self-help books) and just take charge and get on
with the rest of my life. Besides, the trainingg only cost $300 with
far better results, where the $8000+ I spent for my (now-ex) wife and
myself, got marginal, if not negative, results.
After the training, I declared, "Damn, now I can throw away my library
of self help books!" :) Too, bad I couldn't get the $8000 back......
