A little background: a local libertarian group posted an ad to chi.politics and an economics group. I took this opportunity to make a crack about their lack of respect for property rights since I had once seen some of their course catalogs in someone else's giveaway newspaper box. I immediately started getting flamed by one Jimbo aka Jimmy Wales. Wales is a Randoid of the highest order. Exhibit 1:
Objectivism _is_ the only philosophy proper for human life on earth. Moreover, Objectivism is the philosophy upon which a prosperous "civilization of the future" can be based. Furthermore, Objectivism is properly classed as among the greatest contributions to civilization ever known...
Jimbo told people to go over to www.dejanews.com to see what a bad boy I am etc., and that I called Clarence Thomas a "House Negro."
Jimbo got a little confused because I posted to a thread started by the one and only Rack Jite titled "TOP HOUSE NEGROES" the article news:5elhaf$fhc@huitzilo.tezcat.com where I did refer to Keith B Richburg as a "House Negro" in an offhand manner. And I'm not sorry.
Now, I have been a little harsh to Justice Thomas in the past:
Plenty of blacks of all political stripes support individual rights. But Thomas is still a boot-licking, handkerchief-headed, UNQUALIFIED, Uncle Tom who has gotten where he is by political patronage.
And I'm not sorry.
When I thought it odd that Wales would be sticking up for a statist like Thomas, Wales piously said:
For the record, I am not a supporter of Clarence Thomas...
But just look at who I was replying to in the previous thread!

This is par for the course with Wales. He can't even remember what he said a few articles back!

My, how clever. Jimbo claimed on three different occasions that I called Thomas a "House Negro." I challenge him or anyone else to find a post where I directly called Clarence Thomas a "House Negro" If anyone can find one on a recognized search engine such as DejaNews or AltaVista, I will admit my mistake and donate $50 to that person's favorite charity or political organization and $50 to Jimbo's. If Jimbo can find one by himself, I will donate $100 to his. If you think you've found one, please post and cc both jwa...@mcs.com and n...@tezcat.com. This offer is only good for the first valid email I get. All I will owe under any circumstances is $100, period. Deadline is Wednesday, March 12, 1997 at 5 PM CST (2300 GMT). I'd like to apologize to the internet community for my attempt to engage Norman Nithman in a civil discussion of his posting tactics. :-) You gotta be careful these days, eh?
My overall point was, and is, that engaging in such behavior as calling prominent politicians "house Negroes" is not conducive to an advancement in understanding. Norman, I have contended, is more interested in insulting people than in engaging in serious dialogue.
Judge for yourself.
Interesting quote he came up with to smear me. He quotes an article I wrote that was a deliberate rewrite/parody of an earlier article that I did not write. :-)
Of course, I suppose this article, like my others, will be considered "Stalinist" by Norman.
Is there an FAQ on this guy? Have I been suckered in by a known lunatic?
