Or you could simply go to the Gutenberg Project at:

http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Main_Page

Search for Arthur Conan Doyle and download nearly all the adventures with
professionally read audio for free.

I randomly downloaded a handful and they were terrible. Mechanical voice, even
spoke some of the punctuation.

You have to read carefully; some are professionally read, others are
electronically recited. I downloaded nearly all the canons and they are
verbatim and by far the best recordings I've encountered.

I also purchased the entire set from Amazon UK. They pale by comparison.

To find the best ones, simply download a single portion and listen to it.
Once you find the correct one, use that as a guide. Each one starts with a
German accent announcement that says the name of story and "No ad words from
audio books for free dot com". You also need to download the highest
resolution versions. Time to download them all is days. I did it while
watching TV on my laptop.

Once you find the correct version, I think you'll agree they are the best
versions.

If you send me your e-mail address, I can send you a sample.

Cheers,

- Russ

Another source of SH audio books is at:

www.audiobooksforfree.com

The lower quality versions are free; there is a charge for the higher
quality versions.

In addition to SH, there are hundreds of other classics available.

I'm surprised no-one's mentioned Librivox, which has high-quality
recordings of Sherlock Holmes and other classic stories all for free.

http://librivox.org/

The Sherlock Holmes stories can be found at:
http://librivox.org/newcatalog/search.php?title=&author=Sir+Arthur+Conan+Doyle&action=Search

Unfortunately, the high-quality recordings are not always high-quality
readings. They use amateur readers of varying ability, including a
lot of Americans who seem to have no idea how to pronounce British
place names.

But if you can live with that, then it's pretty good.
