I'm still working on Jared Diamond's Collapse. I was making good
progress on it while riding the bus, but I've been holding at page 388
for weeks. I only have to get to 525ish to finish it.

I would guess that it's (a very personal part of the female anatomy) - roach.

Victoria. Look like 120 miles southwest of Houston. So - where was she coming from when she went through Houston? If Laredo she would have gone through our fair city. I could have shown her the ranch! Big oak trees. The barn! The windmill! The pecan trees! The Guadalupe river! My oud leaky trailer house! The entrance to the ranch, where I just cleaned out the weeds and vines. Cows! The Guadalupe River! The old dilapidated Airstream on its banks. All that!

She was coming from Calgary and why the travel bods routed her through
Houston is beyond me - any time I've been to the Eastern USofA i've
been routed through Chicago or Toronto which is mor logical from here
but who knows what the Airlines are doing these days.

And, I thought you were in Victoria but wasn't sure - thanks !

There isn't any "Random" nonsense - it's all quite well planned, innit ???

And how can we avoid keeping his memory alive - he's still alive, innee ???

By "here" you mean the "Usenet" which is sick all over. Something I do
not understand since the "Social Media" is full of advertising and
sales pitches while all is quiet here and we can same the same things
here as there !

Can you imagine Hofstadter in facebook? "Douglas, what beautiful pics of Australia you posted from your vacation."
Or "Douglas, can you identify this old piece of machinery? It's Babbage's Analytical Engine!!!!!!"

Actually, Hof does have a facebook page. About all it has is his wiki entry. You can't friend him there. Oddly, under "friend activity" (and I'm not his FB friend due to the above) there lies my post from the FB Global Brain group describing his tongue-in-ckeek 6 word autobiography. If I'm not his FB friend, how did that post get there?

Many have never heard of this place. To visit requires the URL and a
reason to go there. It depresses me to admit this, but reading my stuff
isn't often a reason to go someplace. People seem to need titilation
for nothing. Not like they get that from us....

Why waste time on a fan group which has a misleading name?
