I have finished two more models based on the works of Heinlein; the
amphibious space shuttle from Between Planets and a diorama based on
Roughnecks: Starship Trooper Chronicles. I have also made a new
webpage that should make it easier to view my Heinlein model
collection. The webpage is at
http://ourworlds.topcities.com/models/heinlein_models.html

This is what spaceships were supposed to look like.

I agree. I like the NASA inspired designs, too, but ships like the
Luna will always be what a spaceship ought to look like to me.

I gotta add a link to that page to my website somewhere.

I hope you don't mind...

This one:

clearly shows that your humans are closer in size to the bugs
then the ones in the models that Galoob was selling for the movie.

These pics remind me of the bugs used in a Stargate SG-1 episode
"Foothold" I think. I believe they were called the Reetoo.

I think this would be something that would be good to post on the
Heinlein Forum page on Facebook. http://www.facebook.com/groups/41168255694/

Not at all. Please post the URL for your website, too.

Oops. I see the URL in your signature block in your original post,
which doesn't show in this reply.

Could be. My diorama is based on the animated TV series which did
make changes from the move, including changes in the design of the
bugs. The bugs are still considerably larger than as described in
Heinlein's novel, however. I am working on another diorama that is
based on the novel (eight-legged bugs and real powered armor) but it
won't be done for a while.

Please do post it on the Facebook page. I am not a member of Facebook

I believe Zeb may be referring to the "Giant Beetle" or "Queen" form
replicators. These didn't appear in "Foothold" (which wasn't a Replicators
episode), but did appear in a few other episodes, including "Enemies" and
"Small Victories".

There are a couple of pictures of them on this page:
http://stargate.wikia.com/wiki/Replicators

There may be better pictures elsewhere.

I was mistaken on which episode I thought they were in. The correct
episode is "Show and Tell" in season 2. The creatures were called the
Re'tu (ree too). Source: http://www.gateworld.net/sg1/s2/220.shtml

Don't forget real bugs were technological, and had weapons...

Correct. This bug will be armed with a weapon.

I'm afraid that even with the picture I still don't remember it. I'll
have to watch the episode again.
