Anyone else bothered by the "over the top" Microsoft product placements
in this series? It was one thing when it was just the OS on a screen, but
now we've seen the Hawaii Five-0 staff have access to the new MS Surface
Tablet and made sure to click on the keyboards...

In the real world, people use real products, people discuss real products,
people buy real products. They even go to Subway.

Would you prefer to see generic, non-existant brand names or go back to the
old way of doing things, put a piece of obvious tape over the brand names?

Yes, yes they do. Kamekona buying five $5 foot longs was a bit much too -
but played well for the humor aspect.

In the real world, rarely does law enforcement receive cutting edge
technology - unless they're a TLI organization in Wash DC - where some of
it is actually developed.

Living with the table top that was the display was one thing (just like
living with the throwing of stuff on NCIS:LA to the video screen). Taking
extra time to make sure that the product is recognized is another.

You mean like ZNN news coverage in JAG/NCIS?

But then again, it's just one mans opinion (IMHO)

Not really. I like to see to see them using new devices.
These shows have a little science fiction flavor so it fits.

Hey Motorola did the greatest product placement of all time on a certain
TV show from the 60s when the actual product wasnt 'flipped' open until
the early 90s. So much pent up demand!

Doesn't bother me too much. As the other poster said, at least it's
not just a well known product with tape over the logo.

Besides: If the producers are even marginally successful with this type
of product placement then perhaps we won't have as many show-stopping
advertisements. Producers hate ads that can be skipped by a DVR.
These types of placements seem like a win/win to me.
