I want to thank Maura for sharing this email with us. In this Hanson drought,
this can be just a little something to read ;) Maura emailed the director, Cory
Edwards, who directed Carman's "Sling Bang Boom" video, in which Taylor and
Isaac were the main "actors" way back when ;) Here was his reply:
Dear Maura,
Thanks for the note. I was the director of "Sling Bang Boom", and it's still
one of my favorite videos. It was a long time ago, but I'll try to answer your
questions!
Q Where was it filmed?
A In a rock quarry in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Q How long did it take to film?
A We shot it all in one day, which is REALLY fast.
Q How were Ike and Tay chosen to be lead actors in this video? Did Carman
choose them or did you?
A I chose them. I've known the Hansons for years, before their big break, and
used them a lot as actors in low-budget projects. They were just talented kids
and this seemed perfect for them, with all the singing and dancing. I don't
think Carman even knew who they were... he may not even realize he has major
rock stars in one of his videos now! I know Word Records doesn't realize what
they have in that video, or they would put Hanson's faces on the box!
Q Did all the actors on the Yo Kidz video go to the same church?
A No. We pull kids from everywhere to be extras. A lot of them go to the same
churches, but some come from talent agencies, or we have them on file from
other projects.
Q Here's the last question-you don't have to answer if you don't want to- What
did Taylor have on underneath his costume????
A I have no idea... but I'm pretty sure it was a t-shirt and shorts. And he was
NINE! Get ahold of yourself! Seriously, he was a very focused guy, even at that
age. It was only a matter of time before they took off. We still see them from
time to time, and they are writing on a new album right now. They love the
"Sling Bang Boom" video, and the family still gets a kick out of watching it.
Here's some trivia for you. ZAC is in the video too. Look for him, there's a
few shots. He was so young, we just put him in the crowd.

Well, you know, Carman had the album "Yo Kidz" and the video just had the
kiddies lipsyncing.
Whatever anyone does, don't order the video from Carman's website. I did that
over a year ago, and that ministry has been sending me junk mail ever since.
No matter how many times I call them to take me off their stupid mailing list,
they won't do it. Next time I get pissed off and call them, I'll just tell
them I'm a devil-worshipping voodoo warlock and I'm going to curse them all to
an eternity of malignant moles.
