A parcel of rogues? Are you allowed to send 'em through the post these days?
Wouldn't they Suffolk 8? And what about the colour-blind hedgehogs . . . .
in a bag?

And as far as the Rogues' Garrerly is concerned, I did post details of my
pic in the Ham and High pewsnaper re: those Jerry builders. You're welcome
to use that as long as you crop off the fat belly! Scanner's bust so I
couldn't post it anywhere myself.

<rant!>
They've just installed the bathroom ex-tractor fan BTW. That's right - it's
got Massey Ferguson writted on it.

That just leaves a bit of adjustment to the boiler and the entire job'll be
finished! - except for all the stuff I've got to add, put right and/or
re-do - like the gloss paintwork that's like sandpaper and the extra length
of worktop I've got to fit coz even after all their efforts, in the middle
of cooking anything complicated, I still find myself standing there with a
saucepan in my hand with no-where to put it down!

They used a highly qualified kitchen designer who apparently didn't realise
council tenants actually do cook stuff. He probably thought we plebs all
lived on nothing but pizzas and Muckdonalds - so his brand new design was
exactly the same as what we had already and just as useless!

The council's project officer only realised I actually cooked stuff and that
was why I was serious about having a decent job done on the kitchen, after
he saw the contents of my herb and spice cupboard.

That was when the Clerk of Works spotted a cracked bracket, looked at the
top, and found the cupboard unit had been badly damaged, poorly repaired and
fitted anyway.

He said the state it was in, it could have fallen from off of the wall onto
my head! And the contractor's site manager, Alan Shaw, actually let me keep
the broken unit in case I could make use of it. I did. As evidence! What a
stupid bleedin' pratt!

It'll end up properly repaired as a base unit at one end of the extra
worktop.

Not bad for a job that started on January 10th. and was supposed to take
just four weeks!

Most states which I consider to be enemies of humanity and the environment
are Right states.

BTW. After we got a small contract from the MOD, our boss put up a poster
showing the latest tanks and other weapons under the heading, "State of the
Art" - a bit daft considering our instruments were designed years before and
still used old-fashioned CMOS and TTL chips.

After a little bit of judicious editing and addition, the heading ended up
reading, "Art of the State" and the tanks etc. ended up covered in dead
bodies and bits of dead bodies.

One morning the poster was missing and we never saw it again. He never put
another one up!

'course she can. I use antiquated machinery as well. I can't afford
anyfing more modern. If I used a Mac, however, I'd be even further
behind the eight ball because they are far more expensive than IBM
Compatibles of similar capability. That is my opinion but I've only
been playing with computers for nearly thirty years.

When I saw the specifications for the first IBM PC I laughed out loud
and asked, rhetorically, "Who would buy junk like that?" I was wrong
in that people bought it because IBM said it was good. I still think
the original specs stunk. It was the open architecture idea that
finally convinced me that maybe they could become a good thing and
eventually they did.

Apple were a good design. The major problem was with their marketing
model. Expensive to buy, spare parts and upgrades are available only
from Apple at inflated prices, Excellent graphics up until the PC went
to SVGA. At that point in time the PC became a better vehicle for
graphics but didn't have the necessary software. By the mid-nineties
many of the MAC programs had been ported to the IBM. The IBM machinery
was faster and the graphics were better.

Having said that I still consider that Apple produce good machines. It
is their closed house attitude that stops them from becoming a serious
competitor in the PC marketplace. It improved for a while when they
dumped Jobs as CEO. Their market share started to improve and prices
fell to more reasonable levels. Then they brought him back and now
they are back in the doldrums. Some people do not learn.

Yes. There must be some way of making that happen. If you are using OS

Perhaps if you lurked in some of the newsreader or MAC groups you

Found a pic of me on the PC. I forgot it was there. B&W only but if I can
find the CD with the colour version on I'll post it.

It's at the top of news:alt.binaries.clip-art

It's so ancient it was done with the version of X-Res given away with about
the third edition of Computer Arts Magazine.

The instrument in the hand of the guy who looks like a cross between Heinz
Wolf and Bernie Winters is a PUNDIT what I used to make calibrate and
service like what is for sale of there it is here of . . .

Boy, the problems we had with the 'Plus' because the highly dreaded Melvyn
Harries got a couple of his mates to design it! We coiuld have done it miles
better ourselves, but we're only mere plebs of course!

The 6 is the best. Nice and easy to use - and to maintain.

NASA even had ten of the Mk.IIIs to check for delamination of heatshield
tiles.

Lots of other goodies on the site if you're into non-destructive testing.

If you're into destructive testing or destructive anything else, Dubbaya the
Shrub would be the twit to consult!

It'll stop when they finally design the ultimate computer that can answer
any question, switch it on, ask it "Is there a god" and a bolt of lightning
will shoot out and fuse the switch into the 'on' position, and a big booming
voice will say, "There is now!"
