city official in the 1976 remake of "King Kong", is born in Chicago.
His films include "Fort Apache", "Adventure in Baltimore", "She Wore a
Yellow Ribbon", "Sands of Iwo Jima", "Revenge of the Creature", "The
Mole People", "The Brain from Planet Arous", "Chisum", "Big Jake",
"Miracle Mile", and "Nightbreed".
1922: WILLIAM SYLVESTER, who played Sam Slade in "Gorgo", is born in
Oakland, Calif. He is best remembered as Heywood Floyd in "2001: A
Space Odyssey".
1935: MIKIO NARITA, who played Rockseia XLL in "Message from Space"
and Kosa in "G.I. Samurai", is born.
1942: EISHIN TONO, who was on "Ultraman Taro", is born in Tokyo. The
son of Eijiro Tono, he was also in "Mount Hakkoda".
1957: ARCHIE TWITCHELL, who played a reporter in "Mighty Joe Young",
dies in an airplane crash in Pacoima, Calif.
1961: MAKO ISHINO, who played Swan Shiratori on "Special Police
Squadron Dekaranger", "Special Police Squadron Dekaranger: The Movie
-- Full Blast Action", "Special Police Squadron Dekaranger vs.
Abaranger", and Magic Squadron Magiranger vs. Dekaranger", is born in
Hyogo, Japan.
THOMAS RASADA, who did special effects on "Godzilla", is born in
Culver City, Calif.
1966: KEN ISHIGURO, who played Dr. Kazuhiko Manabe in "Isola", Narumi
Takasu in "Lorelei: The Witch of the Pacific Ocean", and Sendou on the
"One Missed Call" TV series, is born in Tokyo.
1968: Episode 44 of "Masked Ninja Red Shadow", "The Ninja Without a
Face", debuts on Japanese TV.
1974: KEIKO IMAMURA, who played Cosmos #1 in "Godzilla vs. Mothra:
Battle for the Earth" and "Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla", is born in
Shizuoka, Japan. She and fellow Cosmos Sayaka Osawa also played
psychic schoolteachers in "Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II".

1978: JUSTIN GOCKE, who played Kyle in "Godzilla 1985", is born in Los
Angeles County, Calif.
1979: BASIL DINGHAM, who played an admiral in "Gorgo", dies in
England.
1981: Episode 51, the final episode of "Electronic Squadron Denziman",
debuts on Japanese TV.
1988: Episode 17 of "Kamen Rider Black", "Kyoko's Unbelievable Dream",
debuts on Japanese TV.
1989: YASUSHI AKUTAGAWA, composer on “Portrait of Hell", dies.
1998: "Ringu" ("The Ring") and "Rasen" ("The Spiral") are released in
Japan.
1999: "Moero! Robokon" ("Blazing Robocon!") premieres on Japanese TV.
2000: RALPH MANZA, who played Joe the old fisherman in "Godzilla",
dies of a heart attack in Encinitas, Calif.
2003: "The Ring" is released in Brazil.
