1851: MARY SHELLEY, whose novel "Frankenstein" was the foundation for
"Frankenstein Conquers the World", dies of a brain tumor in London.


1894: JOHN FORD, executive producer and second unit director of
"Mighty Joe Young", is born John Martin Feeney in Cape Elizabeth,
Maine. One of Hollywood's most famous directors, his films include
"Hell Bent", “The Iron Horse”, “Judge Priest”, "The Informer",
“Steamboat Round the Bend”, "The Grapes of Wrath", "How Green Was My
Valley", "The Battle of Midway", "December 7th", “They Were
Expendable”, “My Darling Clementine”, “Fort Apache”, “She Wore a
Yellow Ribbon”, “Rio Bravo”, "The Quiet Man", "Mister Roberts", "The
Searchers", “The Horse Soldiers”, “Two Rode Together”, and “The Man
Who Shot Liberty Valance”, and appeared in “The Birth of a Nation”.


1934: PAUL CARR, who played an IXL executive in "Solar Crisis", is
born in New Orleans.


1947: BART BRAVERMAN, who played Pepe in "20 Million Miles to Earth",
is born in Los Angeles.


1954: BILL MUMY, who appeared on "Ultraman: The Ultimate Hero" and was
the narrator on "Animal Icons: It Came from Japan", is born in San
Gabriel, Calif. Best known as Will Robinson on "Lost in Space", he
also appeared on "The Twilight Zone", "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine",
"Babylon 5", and "Space Cases" (which he co-created) and the film
"Dear Brigitte", and was half of the music group Barnes & Barnes.

1958: RYO HORIKAWA, who was the voice of Akumaru Sujigara on “Samurai
Squadron Shinkenger”, is born in Osaka.


1959: MADAME SUL-TE-WAN, who played a maid in "King Kong" and the
Youngs' family servant in "Mighty Joe Young", dies in Hollywood,
Calif.


1960: KOJI UENO, composer on "Tokyo: The Last Megalopolis", is born in
Chiba, Japan.


1961: ARTHUR KURODA, who played Itsuro Takamizawa a.k.a. Kamen Rider
Verde on "Kamen Rider Ryuki" and was in "The World Sinks Except
Japan", is born.


1969: DEVON BOWMAN, production sound mixer on "Godzilla: The Series",
is born.


1974: Episode 18 of "Diamond Eye: Warrior of Light", "Oni Kabuton's
Great Escape", debuts on Japanese TV.


1975: Episode 16 of "Kamen Rider Amazon", "Garanda's Tokyo's Light's
Ocean Tactics!!", debuts on Japanese TV.


1970: MORT MARSHALL, who played Jules Manning in "Gammera the
Invincible", dies of a coronary arrest in New York City.

1971: SARUTOKI MINAGAWA, who played Dolphin Orphenoch on “Kamen Rider
555”, is born in Fukushima, Japan.

1977: Episode 29 of "Super-Divine Bibyuun", "Wishes Come True? The
Deadly Decorative Candle", debuts on Japanese TV.

1980: Episode 18 of "Sky Rider", "Demon Admiral's Electric Hell Great
Strategy", debuts on Japanese TV.

1981: ISAO SASAKI, who played Professor Nambara on "Monster Hunter
Juspion" and Dr. Mochizuki in "Kamen Rider ZO", and sang the themes to
a number of tokusatsu shows, marries Miyuki Ueda.

1985: KIMBERLY BECK, who appeared on "Ultraman: The Ultimate Hero",
divorces William Barron Hilton.

2000: "Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla", "Godzilla vs. Destoroyah",
"Rebirth of Mothra", and "Rebirth of Mothra 2" are released on DVD in
the U.S.

2003: "Ju-on: The Grudge" and "The Ring" premiere in France at the
Gerardmer Film Festival.
MEGUMI OKINA, who played Rika Nishina in "Ju-on: The Grudge",
marries Susumu Fujita.

2005: "The Grudge" is released on DVD in the U.S.

2006: PAULEY PERRETTE, who played Beth in "The Ring", divorces Coyote
Shivers.

2008: The U.S. version of "One Missed Call" is released in Estonia and
Venezuela.
"Cloverfield" is released in Bulgaria, Denmark, Italy, Mexico,
Spain, and the U.K.
