Last night Larry King was interviewing a black pastor
in context of the religious card in the current election.
I wasn't paying much attention and tuned in late.

King seemed to be asking light hearted standard
questions in a friendly exchange, when he did one
of his lean forwards and asked the pastor about
the need for multiple homes.

Suddenly the air changed and it caught my attention
that the smooth voiced pastor was calmly explaining
how the public is accustomed to famous actors and
pro athletes having several large homes, blah blah
blah . . . . . . . . ... but then how the public isn't
as accepting of "men of God" having them.

Larry leaned over and began pointedly questioning
him more about why "men of God" would want or
need them. He asked the man if he didn't feel
guilty spending so much on them, knowing of the
suffering of others going on that could be helped
with a portion of the money.

The "man of God" quickly pointed to the biblical
basis of "we know God gives his blessings on men
of God and He wants us to prosper." Larry asked more
about the "men of God" at the top prospering instead
of sharing with other "men of God" and started to
point out that 'men of God" in the bible weren't
wealthy and didn't have multiple homes (avoiding
"mansions" or the like).

Taken aback, the pastor explained how prosperity
means an overall global well being, doing well in all
aspects of life, with a happy marriage and family
life, good health, etc. , obviously taking the focus off
money.

Larry let him talk and shoot himself in the foot,
then gave a short grunting commentary of " Hmmm"
and said "let's go to commercial break" and cut.

King effectively raised the key point of "prosperity
for whom?" and "which level of men of God"?

The question bears directly on the plight of H8N
S8N and others who serve and suffer in wealthy
mega churches where the only "church" "man of
God" is the head of the organization with regard
to propspering financially and with a nice home.

God can't be for that.

Did anyone else see the show?

Why isn't there more light shed on the hypocrisy of
that prosperity for the mega pastors like Melissa
Scott, Paula White, etc AT THE EXPENSE OF the more
humble and modest men and women of God?

Well there DTT, Larry king has a large
audience!

Remember Tammy Faye?

She was on there the day she died.

She wasn't on BBC or TBN or NBC.......

She went to Larry King to present to the world
her last earthly testimony.

My point being that the light is being shed
and it isn't the Christians that are investigating themselves.

Reply: You know what still bugs me about Tammy Faye? Here
she knew she was dying and had a chance to set the
records straight. Instead she still played the game.

If I had been her and truely believed in God and loved
everyone soooooo much. I would have fessed up. I'd
have spilled my guts on everything and everyone in the
televised "God Biz". I'd have warned people to Not
send in money to TBN, ect. I'd have set the
televised church world on it's *ss. I would have
even written a book about it.

I would have even said things like "The money you sent to
me instead of getting your child's braces, went to
having my dog's house air conditioned!"

If I truely believed in God, I'd have confessed like hell
so I could enter Heaven.

I truely believe that all of the Mega Church/TBN
pastors (including PMS) are actually atheist and are just using
God for gain and profit. Tammy Faye was just another one
of them.

It's hard to imagine this could be true. I agree with you though. If there
is no God watching, why not?

I would tend to agree about most of them. For Tammy Faye and her last
time before an Earth bound audience, thinking she didn't believe... might
have been hedging her bets by keeping a deal with the devil.... trusting
more on sympathy from the devil than Grace from God. It's very difficult
to keep those thoughts about somebody as they are dying but it remains, if
only a projection, that if I was dying and given that final platform on
King's program I'd spill it all too. Fuc_ the devil.... I'd tell on him
from one of his own productions. What's TBN or any of the others gonna
do... undertake legal proceedings.

I've read where people who are dying and know it
just keep on doing whatever it is that they've always
done, so far as character and conduct. Maybe even
more so.

Funny people make jokes. Friendly people want more
gatherings and communication. Quiet people are still
quiet. Greedy people still greedy. Grumps are grumps.

There might be small changes, but people are who
they are.

It's rare to have final days turn arounds and departures
from usual character and ways of doing things, Maybe
they don't know how, sheesh.

Sometimes who they are leads them to their
demise a bit sooner.
