studio posting on "prophecy of atlas shrugged"

"America in crisis, brought to her knees by a corrupt establishment of
government
regulators and businessmen with political pull – the ‘looters’ and
the ‘moochers’ – who prey on individual achievement."

"Atlas tackles no less an essential argument than the one debated by
philosophers and theologians since time immemorial: altruism vs. self-
interest. Am I my brother’s keeper – or not? For Ayn Rand, the answer
is an emphatic no. To Rand and the disciples of her Objectivist
philosophy, self-sacrifice is as heinous an act as murder…murder of
the soul.

Atlas sold a record 180,000 copies. Since then Atlas Shrugged –
published over a half century ago – has sold over a million copies.

Why? Because – as evidenced by pointed and frequent references to
Rand and Atlas Shrugged in the media – an increasing number of
Americans – right or wrong – see their society devolving into a
nightmare scenario like the one Rand projected over a half century
ago.

If there is no God I guess that would be a good way to go...just be
selfish bastard based on ones own reason and logic.....of course even
in world where god doesnt exist it would be a very cold and cruel
world but it fits in the evolutionary survival of the fitest mode

The oil industry comes to mind. We are to believe Big Oil should
lower prices to help the masses that need money for other
things....like food. However, there is nothing that prevents them
from charging as much money from their product as possible, even if it
hurts the poor, causes a rise in crime, or whatever the end result may
be.

Personally, I think the market makers should be charged with economic
terrorism, but the politicians are in on the take, so that will never
happen. Their solution is to add tax to the price of a gallon of gas
in order to help build more roads. Building more roads is not the
answer either. For every square foot of road constructed, it is just
that much more that has to be maintained, and that equates to more tax
to pay for maintainence....and on, and on it goes. There is no guilt.

That is why "The Godfather" movies were so popular. It presents a
benevolent godfather, where the little guy can go to seek vengence on
the big guy, and we like that kind of thing. The only problem is, it
is a pipe dream.

I like her idea of economics being seperate from the political process
and personal responsability and getting rid of the welfare state....If
I had to give her a title...I say Libetarian Humanist I hear Ron Paul
is a big fan of hers.

Ron Paul doesn't deny that Rand shapes a large portion of
Libertarian thought, but he's also cautious to keep his distance
on all the sticky GOP subject matter like religion.

You might be talking about that youtube video where some
student/ young journalist asks him about Ayn Rand.

Of course we all know that Gene Scott said he would
follow the philosophy of Ayn Rand if he wasn't
following God. Hmmm.

Ayn Rand and Gene Scott's view of "love" seems
to equate to a love of conditions. Rand said that
not everyone deserves love and that it has to have
some kind of "merit" system to it. Totally the
opposite of God's unconditional love sequence,
where we fuck up but God still loves us enough
to sacrifice His son for our welfare and remediation.

The remission of sin.....where does one even start?

Wow, Jesus even died for Ayn Rand's sake.
Totally up to her to accept it.

I thought God's love was unearned, not unconditional. A big
difference.

Rand was mostly opposed to communism (socialism by any definition)
which played big in her life's experience. You have to take care of
yourself before you can provide for others. There is a certain amont
of total self interest in Christianity. At bottom, very few people
are motivated by concernes not centered on themselves. Rand is
addressing the Judas handler of the bag aspect of international
banking and lawyers that will profit and enslave behind an altruistic
veil.

Yes, she spells that out on the second part of Mike Wallace's
interview. Wallace is totally out of his league when
interviewing Ayn Rand. She sees right through him.
She's anxious to speak, like waiting for his mouth to
finish talking!

Rpbc, do you remember doc saying,
"if he wasn't a Christian, then the philosophy of Rand" (paraphrase).

Ya Rands view of love is anathama to the Gospel maybe that is why she
had a hostility towards christianity her merit system view of love is
not only wrong in a biblical world view it is also dangerous in the
world we live in I mean the mentally retarded or children born with
severe disabilties how would they survivie in a love merit system ?
The old and infirmed? How long before they need to be eliminated
because they are a drain on a system of pure capitlism and logic were
there is no charity? Its very close to a Nazi philisophy. She makes a
god out of mans reason and logic as if that will always bring things
to a right conclusion but rejects that mans reason and logic is deepy
flawed by sin and man will rationalize all sorts of evil for the sake
of a "better socieity". (sort of like the New World Order crowd) I
like her view of limited government if it be in a personal lives or
our pocket book but her other views are so dangerous to society and a
Judeo-Christian world view it is really hard to get past that.

Yup, yup, and double yup.

Did you see the video of her view on Israel or Muslims?

The reason she gave for picking the Israeli side is that
they bring technology and modern thought to the region,
whereas The Muslims bring backward thinking and
a real digression to the platform.

If I find it on youtube again I'll post it.

I would like to go to see this movie but I don't
want whatever monies to go to a project or
subculture that is opposite of a Christian
existence.

Besides, I would only go with a handful of
folks that would be interested in that kinda thing.
Rpbc would be one of them. A very short list.

Tickets are only $11 buckaroos!

"Ayn Rand & the Prophecy of Atlas Shrugged looks into Rand’s
background for the ideas and philosophy that inspired and shaped her
novel and seeks to determine whether America is indeed headed for the
disastrous outcome she predicted."

I probably won't be able to attend this, but it would be nice to see
just for the education into Rand and the background of her philosophy,
whether I totally agree or not. Perhaps there will be a DVD.

Dont agree with his actions but ya he has every right to be
pissed,,,the worst thing that every happen to African Americans
(besides slavery) is the whole victimization mentality put on them by
the liberal elite, generational poverty passed on from Mother to
Daughter ect where the whole world owes me something I am a victim
mentality...it was not always like that alot of the (mostly white)
liberal establisment sold them a bill of goods I guess since the
liberals can get rid of the mess they created in the slums...killing
the babies before they go on welfare is another solution......pretty
sick...by the way there are alot of poor whites who can fall into this
category too.

And the beat goes on... fast and furious slated fall guy takes the
fifth. He better be careful, it might be take the fall or if they
think he might talk... Vince Foster again. Just think, it took a
border agent's death to even get attention... what about the innocent
Mexican citizens terrorized and killed.... oh, this is about means
towards an end, taking a bite out of that hideous second amendment
those old dead white guys built into the bill of rights. That gives
it perspective.

Federal official in Arizona to plead the fifth and not answer
questions on 'furious'

By William La Jeunesse

Published January 20, 2012 | FoxNews.com

The chief of the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in
Arizona is refusing to testify before Congress regarding Operation
Fast and Furious, the federal gun-running scandal that sent U.S.
weapons to Mexico.

Patrick J. Cunningham informed the House Oversight Committee late
Thursday through his attorney that he will use the Fifth Amendment
protection.

Cunningham was ordered Wednesday to appear before Chairman Darrell
Issa and the House Oversight Committee regarding his role in the
operation that sent more than 2,000 guns to the Sinaloa Cartel. Guns
from the failed operation were found at the murder scene of Border
Agent Brian Terry.

The letter from Cunningham’s Washington DC attorney stunned
congressional staff. Last week, Cunningham, the second highest ranking
U.S. Attorney in Arizona, was scheduled to appear before Issa‘s
committee voluntarily. Then, he declined and Issa issued a subpoena.

Cunningham is represented by Tobin Romero of Williams and Connolly who
is a specialist in white collar crime. In the letter, he suggests
witnesses from the Department of Justice in Washington, who have
spoken in support of Attorney General Eric Holder, are wrong or lying.

“Department of Justice officials have reported to the Committee that
my client relayed inaccurate information to the Department upon which
it relied in preparing its initial response to Congress. If, as you
claim, Department officials have blamed my client, they have blamed
him unfairly,” the letter to Issa says.

Romero claims Cunningham did nothing wrong and acted in good faith,
but the Department of Justice in Washington is making him the fall
guy, claiming he failed to accurately provide the Oversight Committee
with information on the execution of Fast and Furious.

"To avoid needless preparation by the Committee and its staff for a
deposition next week, I am writing to advise you that my client is
going to assert his constitutional privilege not to be compelled to be
a witness against himself." Romero told Issa.

This schism is the first big break in what has been a unified front in
the government’s defense of itself in the gun-running scandal.
Cunningham claims he is a victim of a conflict between two branches of
government and will not be compelled to be a witnesses against
himself, and make a statement that could be later used by a grand jury
or special prosecutor to indict him on criminal charges

rpbc:
I read her Fountainhead book years ago and believe I understand her
philosophical approach to social issues which has at it's core one
person's freedom stops at the point of violating anothers.....
property rights being a thing inviolate. It does not prohibit
altruistic actions or organizations, charity or proselytizing...
circus activity or genuine attempts to help those less gifted or
fortunate. It simply distinguishes the line against coercive measures
as through government, especially central government, where social
agents operate as thieves and social operatives for whatever ends
exist.... think Judas holding the offering bag 'concerned' for the
poor when Jesus's healing and bountiful Spirit was in the Person with
them. Watching Rand and Wallace it is obviously the difference
between a master of applied philosophy to life and a sophomoric know
it all with just enough training to be dangerous given a platform way
beyond his capacity to utilize. That's what I think anyway. Here's a
quote from her that applies very well to radicals of this generation
working the OWS banner or those of the sixties under SDS and others.
Rand is no threat to peace or charity or good works of kindness done
by others. Throughout the years it has been governments who have
conducted mass murder usually/often against their own citizens.
What's changed? Governments love the passion of a mob as change
agents. Notice these political radicals hardly ever serve their time
for offenses that would land a regular law abiding person in jail for
years as it should... why not them too. What's wrong with this
scene...

--------------------------------------------

The forcible occupation of another man’s property or the obstruction
of a public thoroughfare is so blatant a violation of rights that an
attempt to justify it becomes an abrogation of morality. An individual
has no right to do a “sit-in” in the home or office of a person he
disagrees with—and he does not acquire such a right by joining a gang.
Rights are not a matter of numbers—and there can be no such thing, in
law or in morality, as actions forbidden to an individual, but
permitted to a mob. The only power of a mob, as against an individual,
is greater muscular strength—i.e., plain, brute physical force. The
attempt to solve social problems by means of physical force is what a
civilized society is established to prevent. The advocates of mass
civil disobedience admit that their purpose is intimidation. A society
that tolerates intimidation as a means of settling disputes—the
physical intimidation of some men or groups by others—loses its moral
right to exist as a social system, and its collapse does not take long
to follow.

True, the society determines the whole thing, this brings to mind what
happened at Kent State
no one batted an eye then, now............. and the "occupiers" and
such...same thing..if you know what I mean...
people will have their fill of them..
and history..
later on may look at it as an atrocity..

ya never know if that might be the very reason for the joint military
and LAPD helicopter exercises..
Big brother knows whats going before these people do..

Big Brothers never been bigger.

Tea party and occupy wall street movements there both rebellion of
sorts..

It depends on who's in power..and their shadow government..

I won't forget Obama reaction to the tea party..if he could of
stopped it he would of..

Imagine 4 more years of Obama..we will be striped mined.

WM-Well not only that, cases you mention, but it allows folks to make
arbitrary judgment on whom, persons or groups, sould be crushed held
back and kept down or delt with in any fashion that would keep them in
an undeserving condition so to speak.....no validation granted, no
respect shown, justfied looting of same....from the power positions.
Outcasts made outcast. The bind, the lame, the hault if you will.

yes,
I do believe reasoning should govern the mind without personal
rational attaching itself to it, without the ego, without the
