Well, according to the Wikipedia article (and we all *know* just how

The bear's real name was "Bonkers". Sounds like a masculine name, so
perhaps the bear was a boar (although perhaps neutered)?

Notice that it's mainly this Drin that seems to be all up in Arthurs
gills over it, (girlfriend's angry mother? Father? ex-boyfriend?) only
after which does the foster mother get involved. Nera, The object of his
affections, is apparently okay with the whole thing from what little we
can glean from one panel.

Bonkers is in the "Cast" listing, but I failed to notice the citation
beneath the photograph of Gentle Ben and voice actor Candy Candido.
