Subject: Yiffy? What's it mean?

Dear Furs,

I am curious to know what "Yiffy" and/or "Yif!" means, and so far, I have
heard two different definitions:
From a 'con goer in the auction on Sunday, paraphrased... "It's a
reference to a Star Trek episode, it refers to being horny or engaging in
sex.."
And from a chance meeting in San Jose with another fur yesterday, also
paraphrased... (Wear your 'con shirts in public!  Make friends!) "Yif!
means distress, like yipe!, or oh darn..."
My own feeling for the term Yiffy! which I developed at the 'con has to do
with the feeling a fur has when a fur is around other furs and is in the
full spirit of being furry...see Jim Groat's "Way too much mirth and
merryment" piece in the
CF8 program)... any others?

I think I remember reading in someone's FAQ that YIFF originally meant
Young Incredibly Fuckable Fox.  On the same lines I'd like to know exactly
what spooge means.

Fantastic Mr. Fox

From the Furry Supplement to Webster's Dictionary:

yiff (int.) -- A sound supposedly associated with, and likened to, a fox's
bark.  See "yip", "yap", and "yerf".

yiffy (adj.) -- From "yiff"; describes a person, animal, or situation
which is particularly foxlike; in slang usage, describes a person, animal,
or situation which is especially friendly and/or sensual, erotic, etc.

spooge (n.) -- Fannish in origin, apparently pre-dating furrydom; refers
to the portrayal of an explicit sexual act in art or literature, i.e.,
pornography; a sub-category of the broader term "erotica".  Not to be
confused with the portrayal of simple nudity, although this is a common
error among many people.

YMMV (abbr.) -- Acronym meaning "your mileage may vary"; a suitable
description of the above definitions as they relate to other people's
understanding of these terms.

From What I'm told, it's a slang word for semen.

I recall reading that the term originated in the pornographic film industry,
as slang for the substance used to augment the amount of ejaculate visible.
Hence, a "spooge scene."

Sorry, I have to add to this...

Spooge, n. 1. Slimey liquid produced by demons, particularly ones with
tentacles [Urotsuki Doji has a lot of spooge]. 2. /oui-goui-spooge/
Betty Crocker Brownies made with spooge. adj. 1. /spoogy, spoogness/ An
image of, or action pertaining to, a sexual situation, often of a
perverse and highly arousing nature [Urotsuki Doji is very spoogy]. 2.
/spoogemiester/ One who enjoys watching hentai media and degrading
non-etchi characters, these people are labeled raving hentais [See
David Wills]. 3. /spooge-o-rama/ [The contents of Urotsuki Doji].

{Eww! It's one of thoes japanime fanboys}

Ew.  Thanks for the reminder. -_-

Could be related to the noun, /ouiji-spooge/
defined as... well, never mind ;)

I'll definately say that Urotsuki is quite perverse.  As for the
latter... YMMV.

See also the producers of the Ginrei Specials-- though I admit that the
"fanshot" of Lord Alberto was pretty amusing ;)

> [See David Wills].

Just as long as that's not the ONLY thing you enjoy in anime...

> 3. /spooge-o-rama/ [The contents of Urotsuki Doji].

Aw, Satan.  Do you really have to keep bringing THAT up?!
[note: I wouldn't be quite as resentful of Urotsukidoji if it hadn't
trashed anime's reputation in the United Kingdom]

> {Eww! It's one of thoes japanime fanboys}

Ohhh?  Who, pray tell, said that?  And on another note: what's with all
those terms for anime preceded by "jap*," anyway?  Either David Duke or
Carl "I want out" Macek is behind this ;p

Considering this and my "gyakushuu" (counterattack, or in this context,
rebuttal) threads, I guess I'm being a bit of a crusader/cheerleader
here.  Maybe I just have a strong dislike for people generalising
Japanese animation or its fans (not directed at you, David)
