You know, why don't the members of furry come up with a
'real membership' card? Sorta like this POS decoder rings
or something else. Who knows, it might be a good idea for
cons and stuff. Flip out your good 'ole Furry Membership
card for discounts or admision to furry things. If not, tough
shit for those who aren't furs.

How many Ovaltine labels do we need to get one?

Seriously, it's an idea and has points, but it will eliminate a lot of
people who just want to try it, and what's the difference between a
membership card and a con membership badge anyway?

Maybe a good idea, but one I am not really found
of. Why? because in the idea of membership cards,
there will be requirements for membership and the
likely chance of exclusion of certain elements
wanting to be members. Then again, that is just
my opinion.

Something like that would require a centralized organization. Some sort of
group who would provide authentication and documentation so that pirated
badges could be detected and official ones could be validated. And, if the
group felt it was necessary, a review committee to deny memberships to
"undesirables". Such memberships probably wouldn't be called "furry"
memberships. They would be memberships of this hypothetical organization.
Other people would still be calling themselves furry, but an official body
could endorse conventions, comics, websites, and IRC servers (sort of like
how the ADA endorses some toothpastes).

I think this sort of thing was posited in this group before, but I can't
remember the details. But I do remember that it most of the discussion gave
a lot of reasons for NOT doing such a thing. Again, I don't remember the
specifics.

If such a thing were to happen, may I suggest a name for the organization?
"National Association of Furry Fans", or N.A.F.F. (just a little humor there
for our friends in the U.K., and not to be taken as a serious suggestion)

Elohssa:
One of the problems for such an idea would be to see, um, who issues
these cards, and who would qualify to be a furry, based on which
parameters.

Believe me, if we had that thing clear enough, we wouldn't even need
the cards. :)

Well, it was simply and attempt to see how many people would even notice.
Also, no one even noticed WHAT the name actually spells ;) Heh.
