The BSO plays the Music of Frank Zappa and Philip Glass
Friday, July 23 at 7:30 p.m.
The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra celebrates two of Baltimore's most
celebrated native sons, composers Frank Zappa and Philip Glass.
This is one of the rare orchestra-plays-the-music-of-rock-dorks things
that makes sense. After all, Zappa wrote music for orchestras on
purpose. Tonight, four of his spazzy opi are paired with fellow
Baltimore homeboy Glass' Symphony No. 4 ("Heroes"), based on the
atmospheric David Bowie album of the same name. Local beatboxer Shodekeh
performs as well, 'cause why not?

The plural of opus is opera. But I don't think FZ wrote one.

Speaking of t-shirts, I found the article pasted below this morning. I
searched the available artists for both 'zappa' and 'beefheart' but
neither are available. I was hoping that, since Hal Leonard published
the Zappalog decades ago, they'd provide lyrics t-shirts featuring FZ
tunes. Not so. Not yet, anyway. Probably never. But, who knows.

Hal Leonard Corp., the world's largest music publisher, has opened a new
website store that allows music fans to capture their favorite lyric and
put it on a T-shirt or a coffee mug.
The new website is called LyricStore.com <http://lyricstore.com/> and
features lyrics from some of the top artists in music, including the
Beatles, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Cash and more. All genres
of music are available on the site.
Once music fans settle on a lyric, there is an array of options
<http://www.lyricstore.com/search/browse.action> to choose from.
The firm said royalties are paid to the appropriate publishers and
songwriters for use of the song lyrics.
Even if it's Fuck me you ugly son of a bitch?
You just told us that you can't write one opera.

I'm having enough trouble writing one book.

It certainly is an opus.
R
Unless you split it into two volumes, in which case it will be an opera.
