I got this email from Zappa.com wishing me (of all people) a Happy
Mothers Day. (with more info to be seen in What's New) It's a digital
download of the Best of the Muthers by Frank. Now if I can only view
it on my home computer. Hmmmmmm.

It seems that there is no way of ordering this on cd from ZFT...then forget
about it. I want it in physical form, not digital, sorry.

Reportedly it's only Penguin in Bondage followed by an FZ
monologue over some band vamping.

For $7.

Would having it on CD not be digital?

It's a version of Penguin In Bondage with a great '74 FZ solo, then
some banter between FZ, Duke and Simmons, then the band settles into a
blues vamp and FZ does a long monologue about Paul Buff and the early
years of the Mothers, then a short FZ solo, then it sounds like Duke
starts to solo and it fades out.

Well the holes on the plastic are physical...and that's what I want. That
plus the fact that I will never buy anything from Apple.

The announcement says that this is from May 10th, 1974 in Chicago...
A date not listed in FZShows.

Sunday, May 10 is a date not listed on any 1974 calendar.

The gig in question started on Saturday, May 11, and continued past
midnight, hence onto Sunday, May 12.

I would really like to get this because I saw them perform the day
before at the IMA Auditorium, in Flint, Michigan. Like others have
said, I'm not going to buy the down-load. I want the physical product.
Maybe I'll get one of my kids to do it for me. After all, father's Day
is coming up.

Did they change the announcement? It now says: "Recorded at Auditorium
Theater, Chicago, Illinois at the stroke of midnight on one of the
Mothers Day Concerts, 10/11/12 May 1974"

Well yeah, on that point I'm with you. ;-)

Yes, they did change it. Still seems unnecessarily speculative since
it is clear from the recorded evidence (and from FZ's mention of the
show in the R&E liner notes) that this is from the second show of May
11.
