Timpani takes center stage at RSO concert

Haas decided a number of years ago that a showpiece for timpani was
needed. He considered two composers: Glass and Frank Zappa, whom he
considers "a modern-day Mozart." After Zappa died in 1993, he approached
Glass, who expressed an interest in the project.
