That's about it from me. If no one posts more extensive explanations by
Monday (my day off), maybe I'll dust off the old SP issues and post 'em.
Although, having not checked out the FAQ's thoroughly yet, I would
imagine there would be quite a bit of this info in there.

>Famous arrogant blues guy.
Probably the greatest living Chicago Blues musician. I saw Buddy Guy
at the Strand the night before last. Absolutely brilliant. Before the
show, I was waiting out front with a friend and witnessed the club
owner trying to put the moves on a young lady with the line "Yeah, he
taught Hendrix how to play." Buddy played everything that night from
Hoochie Koochie Man to Voodoo Chile and Strange Brew. He did not come
off as "arrogant" at all, he seemed quite humble and full of positive
energy. Strict adherence to the blues usually bores me, but Buddy is
the epitome of soul, don't miss his current tour.

(wait a minute - I didn't quite mean it like THAT! - I was trying to

As Stravinsky's confidante, he was able to document the details of his
thoughts and experiences so Igor could just compose.

Jeez, you can say this the same week that the newspapers are full of stuff
about Allen Ginsberg? The central figure of the beat poet movement!
: THEODORE STURGEON
Writer.
: JULES FEIFFER
Cartoonist.
: WOLFMAN JACK
: Blues singer.
I doubt he was a blues singer. Try DJ for LA radio in the sixties and
later moved to syndication. Died about five years ago.
: MELVIN BELLI
Very rich lawyer famous for taking on personal injury lawsuits. He's the
guy that made it possible for people to spill coffee on their lap and get
millions of dollars for it (though he didn't handle that case.) Recently
deceased.
: B. MITCHELL REED
LA DJ. Helped innovate the underground FM radio stations in the late
sixties. Last heard him on KMET (94.7) in LA in late seventies (now an
easy listening station...)
: WILLIE DIXON
Blues master. Wrote "The Hunter" which Led Zeppelin failed to give him
credit for in "How Many More Times" even though they did credit him with
"You Shook Me" and "I Can't Quit You Babe" on the same album. Led Zep
lost the lawsuit.

I think he's usually pigeon-holed as an "Impressionist", probably
because of his habit of turning around on the podium and saying,
"Judy, Judy, Judy..." to the audience after each movement.
: >: KARL KOHN

But perhaps most significantly, professor of music at Pomona College.

Beg your pardon, I was thinking of Billy Taylor. Cecil Taylor
