I think this will be a worthwhile book. I did contact her regarding some research 2 years ago - she was particularly keen to find a photographer who provided photo's for Hot Rats, as he has taken one of her with fag.. and FZ with Goldtop at a backstage moment c.68-69. The impression I received is that she still was in contact with the family and some of the Mothers and her book will therefore be a valuable observation from someone a little detached yet within the day to day ambit of the Mothers and emerging FZ / Herbie enterprises.

I think the name of the photographer which earlier eluded me is Ed Careff (aplogies if spelled incorrectly) I recall that Pauline and later myself found that he difficult to find. I hope she has since made progress.

I was wondering that too.
The photo with Janet is on the Burnt Weeny Sandwich poster.
If Pauline was photoshopped, it wasn't into the photo with Janet, but rather into a different photo from the same session. Alternatively, it seems entirely possible that Janet and Pauline took turns posing with The Mothers.

Who is Janet F?
I believe Pauline (Bird) has reverted back to her old name for the book. I really do look forward to obtaining a copy as she is literate, English and just seems to me a nice straight lady - who like FZ was in her own way an observer of disparate social phenomena and has the ability more than most FZ chroniclers to put the experience onto paper. (she has not paid me for this)

I just got e-mail from Pauline Butcher, assuring me that the photo is legitimate. She said that the photo shoot with Ed Caraeff lasted all afternoon.
Apparently, Janet forgot that Pauline had her photo taken with The Mothers that day and she too thought the book cover was photoshopped!
