Touring makes you crazy.
In one interview from circa 1986 FZ mentioned that although Scott was
his all-around favorite bass player, he preferred Arthur for studio
work.

Accepting a studio job means turning up for a day and then having the
rest of the week free to work with other people.
Accepting a tour means being gone for months, a problem if you're
trying to have a career as a studio musician, which Arthur was after
1980.
