So Mr. Kaylan's book is the BIGGEST thing to happen to affz in a long
time & there are no more comments/reviews?? What? Eelco??? Where are
you??? Stop wasting your $$ on the 1969 Malagasy Republic version of
the "Freak Out" vinyl picture disc!!! Is Everyone broke & cannot
afford to purchase it? I believe that King Obama & Vladamir Putin
declared the World Recession was over so you can go & spend your hard
earned $$$$ on it now!!!!! Howard needs to pay his alimony to his ex
4 wives!!!

Let's hear your reviews of the greatest book since "The Glory Of Their
Times" by Prof. Lawrence Ritter!!!

Loved the story about how Howard got ill & yakked all over Jimi
Hendrix!

What a PR**K John Lennon was! You know, it's nice to be important but
it is also important to be nice!

Howard sure has met an awful lot of people!

I have no idea who Judy Sill was.

She wrote and played guitar on The Turtles' version of "Lady-O".
Her husband was Bob Harris(1)who was with the Mothers in 1971.
Jim Pons produced her first record, which was the first record on David Geffen's record label, Asylum Records.

I encourage you to address that. Her first two albums are wonderful (the posthumous third, not as much). There's also a collection of her BBC appearances which is great.

For the record, it's spelled Judee.

I have enough damn cds....I don't need any more!!! Especially from
some Judy Collins/Joan (No Talent) Baez wannabe!!! And about her name
spelling...that's another thing...don't you just *LOVE* people that
have *unusual* spellings of a "normal" name & then they get all P.O.'d
when *you* don't spell it correctly.......like Aimee for Amy....Sarah
for Sara....Dyke for Butch.....Barbra for Barbara.......Barack for
Barry......Susyn for Susan....get the message??

At the very least you should check out The Turtles' version of Lady-O.
It's on More Golden Hits, Shell Shock, Happy Together Again, and Solid
Zinc (and probably some other Turtles collections).

Well, you got *that* one wrong. Sarah is the usual spelling in the real
world, and very probably in the US of A too.

Doh! And I thought it was שָׂרָה and came with the story that Abraham's wife was originally named Sarai but the big JHWH changed it.

Most of Europe, from Denmark to Bosnia, spells the name Sara. Germans prefer a Z initial. Why Englanders have, since the Reformation, liked an orthography with a final h (which they then don't aspirate!) is a mystery.

Oh, Yeah? Tell that to my Sister In Law who spells her name "Sara".
Plus, I was just using a few examples that popped into my head at the
moment of recent examples I have run across.

Looked up 'gimmick' in Webster's. A contrivance? An important feature
that is not immediately apparent? A scheme? Don't exactly know what
you mean.
But I do believe everyone in affz is "old" & "tired". There are very
few young FZ fans around......

In case you were wondering...

"a soft-core porno thing" (p. 145) = The Cheerleaders (1973), starring
"Stephanie Fondue"

John Bredeau (p. 256) was the drummer for Head Over Heels, who opened
for The Mothers on the following dates:

10/4/70 San Diego
5/21/71 Chicago
5/25/71 Detroit
5/27/71 Madison
5/30/71 Cleveland
6/3/71 Harrisburg
6/5/71 New York
6/6/71 New York

Their bassist was Michael Urso, who later substituted for Tom Fowler in
The Mothers (11/23/74 East Lansing).

Got the book. Howard did not mention the break up of "Cousin Herbie" with Zappa at all. I would like to know more about that. My impression is that Herb did all right by Frank for the most part. But, I did not know Herb helped Frank avoid the draft. I thought the Cucamonga convicted felon bust took care of that?

As far as I know, Frank was on the outs with Howard and called hima jack off on stage at the Halloween concert in 78.
