Singer/songwriter/pianist/knight Sir Elton John confirmed that he will indeed
open for The Ataris at this year's Art Attack concert May 7 at Byrd Stadium.
Known for his string of 1970s soft rock ballads, wild sunglasses, flower fetish
and notorious toupee, John will only perform songs from his soundtrack to The
Lion King, in a live action spectacular.
"I'm a knight now," he says. "I can do whatever the f--- I want."
Student Entertainment Events officials denied any knowledge of booking John,
but said they were drunk last night and anything is possible.
"I woke up yesterday morning with a nasty hangover, two hookers and a signed
contract," said one unnamed SEE official. "I think SEE is also about $300,000
in debt, and Kanye West has been missing since wandering into North College
Park after his performance here, but don't print that."
John said he rented several lions for the show, which he will release into the
crowd as part of the grand finale. Ambulances from the College Park Fire
Department will be on call to give potentially mauled students $300 rides to
the nearest hospital.
"It's going to be bloody spectacular," he said. "Can you feel the love tonight?
I can."
It may seem surprising to some that John, a 30-year veteran of the music
industry, is opening for the relatively young Ataris, but SEE officials
shrugged off criticism. "What the hell more do you want from us?" one flustered
official said. "The 'Circle of Life' extravaganza alone will involve more than
$500,000 in fireworks and the entire cast of Rent in a 30-foot tall human
pyramid. The dude's gotta have time to set up." The official then added, "Wait,
don't print that."
This is an April's fool,I suppose...:)))
