I bought the Rocket Man single in 1972 (aged 12). The song and the b-sides
blew me away. Seen Elton 12 times live, bought everyhing since.

What was the first Elton record you bought?

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (album) with my Christmas money in 1976. We
didnt have a stereo in the house before then. I was a slave to the
radio in the mid-70s.

Aaah the luxury of hearing FFaF anytime I wanted.

There were 3 that I bought simultaneously when I joined the Columbia Record
Club - Don't Shoot Me, Goodbye Yellow Bricks, and Honky Chateau. I would
have bought them all but those were the only ones with stamps in the TV
Guide advertisement. I got the rest as quickly as I could, mostly in
stores, a couple through CRC.

First record I bought was an 11-17-70 bootleg. I hung out at a record
store and after hearing Your Song I thought I'd give it a try. After
that I bought everything and every version on any Elton material I
could find and still do.

Happy New Years All!!

Greatest Hits Volume 2 on cassette, the one with him playing cricket on an
English lawn. It wasn't until 1981 that I fully got into his music and that
was when a friend lent me all his albums up to that time and I was blown
away. I have since bought every album he's ever done plus some rarity's and
have spent the last year converting them all to surround (except the ones
that have been done to SACD by Greg Penny). I intend to upload them soon.
