So anyway, I had a gift certificate to Barnes & Nobles Booksellers, so I
go and start to meander around the huge store. I avoid the SF section,
because, from prior visits, I know it sickens me to see the Non-FH "prequels
& sequels" shelved with the true Dune books, as if they belong there. I knew
it was inevitable, so I end up there anyway. Not only are they shelved
together, but there is actually a display. "Paul o' Dune" and "Winds o'
Dune" are advertised as "Direct sequels" to Dune and Dune Messiah,
respectively. Long story short, some brain fart or misfiring synapses lead
me to wonder how bad the could freak up a "Direct Sequel". I foolishly
assumed that would negate them including their characters and situations
created out of whole cloth and bearing no resemblance to anything FH would
put in a dune novel. I flipped through "Paul o' Dune" and saw plenty of ref.
to Margot Fenring, etc. Then I came to a passage that involved Paul looking
upon the sleeping form of Brian & KJA's stupid character of "Prince
Romperroom" or whatever the freak his name is and I knew it was as
contaminated as anything they've spewed so far.
So, anyway, I bought a two volume set of "The Complete Sherlock Holmes",
and I am enjoying it immensely....

Yeah. It's pretty good. It reminds me of the Dune Chronicles in some ways, and
it also reminds me of Destination Void. Have you read Excession?

No. I wasn't (and still am not) a big reader.
